Property code: OC-MORTEV

Morte View is slap bang in the centre of the attractive village of Mortehoe, which sits on the hilltop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is a spacious two storey apartment with everything on the doorstep including a choice of shops, pubs and tea rooms and is within easy reach of spectacular coast and countryside walks. Mortehoe sits just inland from the rocky headland of Morte Point. The village earned a mention in the Domesday Book and offers a quiet holiday base to venture into the heart of North Devon. The apartment has a private entrance on the bottom floor with a spacious hall providing ample space for shoes and coats along with surfboards or up to four bikes giving you the chance to explore the county's many cycle paths. On the first floor there is a good sized lounge which opens into a dining area. Upstairs there are two attractive bedrooms served by a family bathroom. Both bedrooms look out over the village and have some sloping ceilings.

Mortehoe Heritage Centre recounts the area's rich maritime history. Mortehoe is the starting point for many scenic walks along this dramatic stretch of coastline. Just north of the village, and reached only on foot, is Rockham Beach lying at the base of the 100 foot cliff; an ideal location for a peaceful day on the sand. Another great beach nearby is Barricane Beach just on the outskirts of the village. It’s a sandy cove perfect for families with low ledges that are great for jumping off. There’s also the wonderful, but seasonal, Barricane Beach café, serving up the distinctly un-Devon flavours of Sri Lanka. A brisk walk or short drive takes you to Woolacombe, which has three miles of golden sands.

A charming escape in the centre of Mortehoe. The apartment had everything we needed but be aware that it is over 3 floors so if you have access issues this might be an issue. It felt really homely and we had all we needed to feel at home including a cafetiere which was ace as I forgot mine! Perfect for east access to local attractions and beaches. Read moreThere's 2 oubs and 2 takaways in a stone's throw of your front door as well as a tea room and the post office - I also recommend a coffee from the little coffee and vinyl lounge next to the post office. We would absolutely stay again. Thank you x Hide

Clean , airly and spacious apartment on three floors . Very well equipped and excellent location right in the heart of Mortehoe. Lovely views. For those with mobility problems bear in mind there a quite a lot of stairs (3 flights) . Also it was great that we could bring our dog, but there is no outside space at all. We took her through the car parkRead more onto the National trust land 5 minutes away for her morning requirements. All in all we have a great visit - our seventh time in Mortehoe and the best weather we have had . Hide
