Deep in Peak District walking territory, this handsome stone cottage is teeming with traditional charm and cosy cottage elements, perfect for couples or small families. It’s located in the old limestone village of Hartington, a Dovedale destination known for its cheese-making. Alongside its artisan cheese shop, the village offers cosy cafés, hearty pubs, and antique shops. Follow a waymarked footpath out of the village to the tree-lined Beresford Dale (1 mile) and Wolfscote Hill (2 miles), or take on the High Peak and Tissington Trails, both within 3 miles. Check out the nearby beauty spot of Thor’s Cave (5.5 miles) before following the Manifold Way along a pretty stream down to Weag’s Bridge (6 miles). In between outdoor adventures, enjoy visiting local towns and villages. Head to the spa town of Buxton isn’t far (11 miles), or see the beautiful Bakewell (9 miles), home to the famous Bakewell tart.

Admire the quintessential charm of this stone cottage before entering, resting for a moment on the bench to watch the comings and goings of the village green. Once inside, notice the original features, including wooden beams and ancient doors, lovingly accentuated by floral accents and soft décor. Step into the lounge, a welcoming space with ample seating options, a Smart TV, and a wood burner for when the temperature drops outside. A farmhouse-style kitchen is just next door, furnished with a space-saving drop-leaf dining table that can be used as needed. Completing the ground floor is the bathroom, a room with the option of a shower or bath for soaking in late at night. Take the stairs up to the first floor to find two beautifully decorated bedrooms – one double and one twin.

Outside, a grassy seating area is accessible via a few stone steps. It’s an enclosed space with fabulous views of the surrounding fields and features a table and chairs for you to sit and dine alfresco while watching livestock graze. There is private parking for one car.

Cosy cottage, comfortable rooms, but a lot smaller than photos on website suggest though. Parking in front of garage for small car only. No dishwasher or freezer which was misleading. Good location for lovely walks, local shop, pubs etc. A welcome guide for the cottage would have been appreciated on arrival to help us settle in, this could include Read morelocal suggested walks, amenities, vet contact, points of interest etc. Hide

Lovely cottage for a getaway, overlooking the Church and High Street. Comfortable beds and sofa, internet access a real bonus as phone reception in the village is a bit patchy, smart TV and standard kitchen equipment to cook a meal. Car parking really easy too with driveway access and room to the front. Nice to have a back garden overlooking the fiRead moreelds too. Hide

Great little cottage. Marvellous location especially if you take a dog. Numerous footpaths literally on your doorstep. Not far from places to visit and a good pub just down the road. It pays to book a table ahead though as it does get very busy. We had a lovely week there and the dog did too.
