Falkirk (6.5 miles) is located in the heart of central Scotland, rich in history and modern attractions including the iconic Falkirk Wheel, the world’s first and only rotating boat lift. Another highlight is the Kelpies, two stunning 30-meter-high horse-head sculptures that celebrate the region's industrial and equine heritage. Visitors can also explore the historic Callendar House, a 14th-century mansion featuring a museum and sprawling parklands. The area also offers great motorway and rail links, connecting the major towns and cities including Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow, all within 27 miles. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy a trip to the Burnhouse Lochan fly fishery (1 mile). This 2-acre picturesque “fly-only” fishing, Lochan is stocked with only grade A Rainbow, Blue and Tiger Trout. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Falkirk Tunnel and the John Muir Way offer picturesque walks and cycling routes.

This holiday cottage was marvelous with fabulous rural views, was comfortable and well equipped and the bonus feature was the garden room which we sat in every evening with a cosy drink watching red deer in the sunset.

Fantastic cottage. Spacious & very well equipped. Everything you need in the kitchen. Bathroom spacious with great big walk in shower unit. Comfy beds and quality furnishings. Even though the property has central heating, it was still lovely to have the log burner going! A ferry rural location yet the M80 easily accessible to get around. It was a rRead moreeal lovely treat to have the resident herd of deer amble by all day - they are very partial to a carrot or apple! Would not hesitate to stay again. Hide
