Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, this unique former railway station and two-bedroom property is a dream for outdoor lovers. Surrounded by endless walking trails, spectacular views and long, deep lakes, it is located at the edge of Braithwaite, a picturesque village at the foot of the Whinlatter Pass with gorgeous vistas over Bassenthwaite Lake and the nearby fells. You’ll have a charming coffee shop and a cosy pub within 0.5 miles – perfect for relaxing before or after a day in the fresh air. For a unique experience, head to Bassenthwaite Lake Station (5 miles), where you can dine aboard a replica of the Orient Express. Beautiful walks await around Bassenthwaite Lake (5 miles), or for the more adventurous, head up the 931-metre Skiddaw mountain (start point 6.5 miles) for a rewarding hike with breathtaking views.

Step through the front door and you’re welcomed into a spacious and cosy entrance lounge. To your right, a good-sized kitchen awaits, while the left side leads to a snug single bedroom. As you explore, you’ll notice period features including exposed stone walls and wooden beams, along with tasteful themed artwork and elegant wooden fittings. Further along is a handy hallway utility/boot room with Lakeland slate inset seats, plus a ground-floor shower room boasting a luxurious waterfall shower. Just past this is the glorious and bright sunroom, where the light enters come rain or shine thanks to multiple windows. Heading back to the lounge, stairs from here lead you up to a huge lounge area in the eaves, with a vaulted ceiling, beams and skylights. Sofas and a TV are on hand for unwinding with fellow guests. The lovely king-size bedroom is also on this floor, with its en-suite shower room with rainfall shower, and captivating views of Skiddaw to absorb as you wake.

Outside, the original stone edged platform, complete with bench and garden furniture, provides ample room for alfresco dining, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Steps from the platform lead down onto a large lawn and raised patio - perfect for lounging and reading on sunny days.

Great conversion. Have never stayed in a cottage where both bedrooms had there own toilets and showers in them before. So that was great. Beds were lovely. Nice and clean sheets etc. Kitchen looked like new. Very strange no microwave though..? Internet was great. Sky TV was good. We did find the upstairs seating not that comfy though. Best place weRead more've ever stayed for parking. All in all a great place to have a holiday in. We would definitely book again. Well as long as prices stay reasonable. Hide
