Devoke Water (1.5 miles), the largest tarn in the Lake District, is just a short walk from the property, or explore local archaeological sites including Neolithic and Bronze Age stone circles and settlements. Take a short drive to the majestic Wastwater (11 miles), the deepest lake in England, as well as Wasdale Head (13.5 miles) and Scafell Pike (13 miles), or head west to the unspoiled beaches of the Cumbrian coast. Visit Hardknott Pass (9 miles) with its Roman fort and wild swimming pools at Tongue Pot, take a journey on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway (8 miles), and enjoy attractions such as Ravenglass Roman Bathhouse (8 miles) or Muncaster Castle (7 miles) with its spectacular gardens and Hawk and Owl Centre.

The cottage was great , if youre looking for a secluded location, with peace and quiet this is for you, the approach to the cottage down the tracks off the main road through the sheep is lovely.

Really off the beaten track. Ideal for those seeking to be away from it all. Excellent location for walkers. Devoke round and the Eskdale valley all within easy walking distance. Visitors be aware that currently Budgens in Gosforth is closed due to a serious fire in August 2024.

Staying at Ganny Loft was a really special experience. Of course it helped that I had a beautiful week of weather but it was just lovely to be in such a peaceful, remote location surrounded by nature. There is so many options to enjoy the outdoors in the surrounding area including hiking, bouldering and swimming in the clear and beautiful river EskRead more and river Duddon, as well as nearby Devoke water. The loft is cosy and well equipped and felt like a real sanctuary to come home to every night. Hide

Loved the location and the loft, so cosy and clean. We did a lot of walking using OS maps but unfortunately the paths couldnt be seen, fell in a peat bog but just got up and laughed it off

This is a fantastic little cottage. The cottage itself is furnished to a high standard and was very clean and comfortable. Theres no view from the cottage itself but the views from the communal areas make up for it, stunning all around, from wide flat moors to Scafell Pike. The cottage is a great location for walking with many routes straight from Read morethe door and is close to places like Wast Water, Windermere and Ambleside. Hide
