Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Freshwater, this cosy retreat is located a mere 0.5 miles from Freshwater Bay, making it a perfect base for exploring the western coast of the Isle of Wight. The bay, with its pebble beach and dramatic cliffs, offers breathtaking views and is ideal for peaceful walks, picnics or adventure with water sports like surfing and paddleboarding. Tennyson Down (1.5 miles) begins conveniently at the end of the road, and less than 0.5 miles away, you'll find the Dimbola Museum and Galleries, the former residence of the trailblazing Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. A Michelin guide restaurant is under 1 mile away for a treat, and nature enthusiasts will be delighted by the rich biodiversity of the nearby Afton Down (1 mile) and the Freshwater and Yarmouth Marshes, excellent spots for birdwatching. For the more adventurous, a hike on the Tennyson Down leads to the Tennyson Monument, dedicated to the esteemed Victorian Poet Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson, from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the English Channel.

As you approach the house, you are greeted by a picturesque porch that leads you to the front door. Upon entering through the front door, you step into a beautiful Victorian tiled hallway, and the staircase beckons you to explore the upper floor. You'll find the cosy and inviting lounge to your left, perfect for relaxing with family and friends. The room has a beautiful Victorian fireplace featuring a wood burner, creating a warm and welcoming ambience along with a Smart TV. Continuing down the hallway, you reach the ample dining room, providing a comfortable space for enjoying delicious meals with loved ones. Conveniently located opposite the dining room is a contemporary and stylish downstairs shower room, offering convenience and practicality. As you make your way back to the hallway and take a few steps up, you enter a spacious kitchen. This bright, airy space features French doors that open onto the private west-facing garden. The kitchen is well equipped with amenities and a couple of stools, creating a perfect spot for casual chats while cooking. Ascending the steep staircase, you'll find the first floor, thoughtfully renovated to offer a refreshing escape. The first bedroom is a spacious, light- filled double room, providing a peaceful retreat for a restful night's sleep. The second bedroom also boasts a welcoming environment and has a Smart TV to watch your favourite shows in bed. The third bedroom is a charming and compact bunk room, perfect for children or additional guests. The family bathroom is tastefully designed and includes a shower over the bath, providing convenience for the entire household.

Step outside into the private west-facing garden and discover an oasis of tranquillity. The paved seating area invites you to unwind and bask in the sun's warm rays. Lovely cottage in a great location, just a 10 min walk to the beach and everything you need in walking distance. Owner was really helpful and made contact before we even arrived. House was lovely and clean and one of the best decorated houses we have stopped in in the many years we have been coming to the island. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location, very convenient for a well-stocked shop with local produce, and an easy walk to the beach. Ideal garden area for children and dogs. nice layout with kitchen/family space leading onto garden area. Nice to have a designated dining room and the breakfast bar was handy for the children in the mornings.

This is a wonderful property. The owner has thought of so many nice touches to make it feel homely. There is some lovely artwork and books and games were also provided. The booklet about things to do during the stay and with information about the property was very thorough and helpful. The property was very clean and the kitchen had all the utensilRead mores/crockery etc that you would need. It is in a good location and only a short walk to the sea. The garden was a nice space to sit and relax in too! Hide

It was a lovely property and decorated well, with lots of great walks nearby. The house is about 10-15 minutes from the village shops and 10 mins from the beach. The kitchen needs a coffee pot and a colander but otherwise was fine. The welcome gift of a fruit loaf was nice but a few basics - bread, eggs, coffee, milk would be much better. The photoRead more of the front of the house also makes it seem as though the property is detached but is not. The owner was helpful and lives on site behind the house. Hide

Thus is a truly lovely property in a wonderful location. Every amenity in kitchen provided...a real home from home. We were welcomed with a baked tea loaf on arrival. High fenced garden so our pups were very safe. Superb walks nearby
