Wander through the hotel grounds to the bar and lounge and enjoy a sundowner after a day hiking the surrounding hills. Dovedale’s easy access paths and grassy slopes make it a favourite with families and picnicking day-trippers. The crystal-clear River Dove is a contender for the prettiest river in the Peak District which meanders through the village where you can walk along to the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones. Converted former railway lines such as the Tissington Trail (4mls), the Manifold Way (8mls) and Monsal Trail (18mls) offer safe traffic-free cycling along relatively level tracks across the most stunning countryside. Chatsworth is one of the great treasure houses of England just 20 miles away with 105 acres of landscaped gardens to explore, a restaurant, gift shop, farmyard and adventure playground.

Step into the hallway and wander through to the spacious lounge/diner with ample comfy seating, wall mounted Smart TV and a nearby dining table. There is also a utility room and downstairs WC. Head upstairs where you will find a selection of double and king-size bedrooms boasting memorable views either over Bunster Hill or Thorpe Cloud. Two of the king-size bedrooms offer en-suite bathrooms and smart TV's and you will also find two further family bathrooms.

Outside you will find an enclosed garden to the rear with a patio, lawn and decking area with a rattan corner sofa and table, take the steps down to a second lawn which is a great space for ball games.

A spacious, clean and generally well appointed property. Recently redecorated and had plenty of bathrooms to facilitate the number of people staying (10). Fabulous rural location, perfect for exploring the area on foot. The property felt modern and warm, providing an ideal bolt hole which we definitely needed in January! We cooked-in on two eveningRead mores, made use of the bar in the hotel next door and had a lovely meal up at the Old Dog Pub in Thorp. Definitely recommend. Hide

We had a wonderful week over Christmas. The cottage was beautifully decorated and the few issues we had were sorted by Chris from the hotel. We were very anxious about staying as the communication before hand was dreadful and the reviews not great. However we were pleasantly surprised! The cottage was perfect and in a great location. Do not consider renting this property. There were no wine glasses and no method of making coffee. Basic maintenance extremely poor. Toilets did not lock and mirrors missing from bathrooms. No apology or recompense offered.

It was a nice property but could do with some sprucing up as it looked a bit tired. The locks on the bathroom doors need replacing as they didn't work. Wi-Fi coverage around the house wasn't great only working well in small areas. There is a large kitchen and plenty of plates and cutlery but a shortage of pans and utensils.

Our experience has been less satisfactory, due to a main reason that kitchen stove was not working and it lead to us to buy the food from outside, furthermore that wifi connection was extremely slow therefore communication was very limited, in addition the bathroom locks were not working, there was no point of contact to call and raise any queries Read moreapart from emails Hide
