  • An ideal base to explore the whole of the Isle of Wight
Property code: 85976

This lovely cottage is located in the wonderful village of Wroxall, home of the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary which is a haven for rescued donkeys and ponies. Enjoy village life, with the local convenience shop and pub both within walking distance. There are scenic walking and cycling routes available from the doorstep, some of which take in Appuldurcombe House and go on to Godshill with its postcard architecture, tea rooms and model village. Visit nearby Ventnor, only 2 miles from the cottage, where there are many more places to explore from a wonderful selection of restaurants to choose from to the botanical gardens located at the heart of the famous Undercliff; because of its protected position which benefits from a microclimate, the gardens are unrivalled for the collection of subtropical plants grown unprotected outdoors.

Enter this cottage into the well-equipped kitchen complete with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and coffee machine – a great space to start your day preparing breakfast before exploring the island. Head on through into the dining room with a table and enough chairs to seat the whole group – an ideal spot to gather and enjoy a games night or two. Retreat to the lounge which has a TV, and curl up on the sofa in front of the roaring wood burner for a cosy evening in. The bathroom with a shower over the bath and a separate WC can be found beyond the kitchen and there’s a wonderful conservatory adjacent where you can access the enclosed garden. Heading up to the first floor, the master king-size bedroom can be found first on the left; make your way along the hall where the double bedroom is located, boasting views over the countryside in the distance. The final bedroom with twin beds completes this level and also features views of the countryside in the distance.
The enclosed garden is a great space for the whole family to gather and enjoy that al fresco experience whilst enjoying the island’s microclimate. Parking for up to two cars is available off-road to the side of the cottage.

What a lovely cottage! Absolutely ideal for our needs. Had to sleep my 95 year old father downstairs in the front room, just because of the steepness of the stairs, but that worked ideal with the toilet situation. Everything was lovely. The welcome package was a lovely surprise. The bread etc. The parking was big enough for our van Everything was amazing and we all wish we'd arranged to stay longer. It's a beautiful house. And allowing dogs in is a massive bonus. Thank you so much for supplying a beautiful house.

The road at the side was difficult to access at the top end we have a large vehicle and scratched the side when first entering the side road The hedge could be trimmed back either side to make this easier. The floors ,stairs and landing had creaky floors which disturbed the children when asleep. An information pack explaining where things were and Read moredos and donts would have been useful. Great house - comfortable and homely and fully equipped, close to beaches and the local shop is very useful. It is a shame there is only one toilet and it is on the ground floor - but this would not be an issue if you can go through the night without needing a pee! The doggos loved their secure garden
