This delightful period cottage, just a mile south of the village of Plumpton, sleeps eight guests, making it the ideal place for family get-togethers as well as holidays with friends. The cottage benefits from a peaceful location and boasts stunning countryside views. Take a trip to Long Meg stone circle, 9 miles or Lacey's Caves, only 5 miles away. You’ll be within 12 miles of the walkers’ paradises of the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walk the Ullswater Way, hopping on and off the iconic steamers, or hike to the top of Cross Fell (17 miles) in the Pennines for breathtaking views across the Lake District and beyond. The historic market town of Penrith is 4 miles away and has a fantastic selection of independent shops along its cobbled streets.

At the heart of this welcoming family home is a large kitchen/diner. This bright space has a large wooden dining table for you to enjoy mealtimes together, as well as a range-style electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and an additional fridge for storing all the tasty treats you’ll no doubt pick up on your travels. There’s also a handy dishwasher to make clearing up after dinner a breeze. After your meal, retire to the elegant lounge, which is flooded with natural light, thanks to the impressive picture window. Sit at the window seat with a book, looking out across the valley, or curl up on the comfortable sofa in front of the wood burner effect electric fire to watch the Smart TV. Completing the ground floor is a handy WC. Heading upstairs, you’ll find four tasteful bedrooms, all decorated in neutral tones with little flashes of colour to give each room its own style. The king-size bedroom has the added bonus of an en-suite with a WC and rainfall-effect shower – perfect for reenergising aching limbs after a long hike. The next bedroom is a chic super-king which can be made up as a twin on request. The third bedroom is an inviting double which has a handy washbasin, and the final bedroom is a delightful twin, which boasts distant views of the surrounding fells. The gorgeous family bathroom is also located on the first floor and has a shower over the bath and a WC.

French doors lead from the kitchen/diner to the patio with outdoor furniture, so you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining in summer months. To the side of the cottage there’s a large lawn with mature trees and shrubs and beyond the garden wall you’ll be treated to magnificent views across the neighbouring fields to the fells beyond. There is off-road parking for four cars, as well as a charger for electric vehicles. The cottage also has lockable storage for bikes.

Lovely house . Very clean and well looked after . Great sized kitchen with large table which comfortably sits 8 . Very well equipped with a spotlessly clean large oven.. Lovely picture window in living room , looks onto a great view . All of the bedrooms were a good size . Met the owner , she was lovely and told us about places to eat and visit . Had a great time, nice rural location and a short trip into Penrith with its 4 major supermarkets and a good choice of independent shops to buy food. Everything is provided right down to bin liners. The EV charger was convenient, meaning that there was no need to look for chargers in the Lake District.

We had a wonderful stay at Ravencroft in October 2024. The house is really well equipped for groups and was spotlessly clean. Beautiful view from the living room. We had a great time exploring the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall. Would definitely recommend.

This cottage is amazingly clean and has everything you need, the kitchen is very well equipped, the rooms are lovely and beds comfy. Sitting in the lounge looking at the beautiful view over the fields just relaxes you in an instant, we loved it so much we stayed in the cottage for half the holiday relaxing rather than go out sightseeing. Spacious accommodation, really well equipped and clean, with lovely garden and sitting out area. Well located for northern Lakes and Yorkshire. Penrith well served with supermarkets, eateries and shops. Would highly recommend Ravencroft.

This house is comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. If you have small children be aware that the garden has open access to a working yard opening onto the A6.

What a wonderful location, well-equipped house and kitchen. We five old friends from around the country really enjoyed our stay here. Within easy reach of Penrith and the lakes. We all would recommend staying here.

Wonderful holiday home - all rooms very spacious, beds very comfy, very clean throughout with all you need. Home from home - we thoroughly enjoyed our Xmas stay. Views were a lovely treat.

Ravencroft was exceptionally homely . With absolutely beautiful uninterrupted views. Plenty of room for our three grown up families to share. Our host was was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

A beautiful cottage, in a beautiful location not too far from Penrith town but secluded enough. Plenty of space had my family and friends family stay (total of 7). Kitchen is well equipped and the range cooker is impressive. Would highly recommend!

We have just returned from a 7 day stay at Ravencroft. The location was fantastic being very central to a lot of places. The house is very spacious and had all the comforts you need and more. Very friendly host. We would 100% recommend staying here and would hope to return in the future
