Right in the heart of the Lake District National Park and surrounded by spectacular scenery, Windermere is a popular base from which to explore this much-celebrated area. A vibrant village, Windermere is home to an array of independent shops, bars and eateries for enjoying a bite to eat before strolling home. Meanwhile, just 1 mile down the road, Bowness-on-Windermere offers a further choice of amenities and attractions including the World of Beatrix Potter and is also the starting point for memorable trips out on the lake. Catch a car ferry over to Hawkshead, 6 miles away, to explore the literary heritage of the area, before stopping in at Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s carefully preserved home, just 4 miles away.

Inside, this single-storey property has been finished with tasteful neutral tones and cosy soft furnishings to create a home from home feel throughout. Cook and dine in the bright and airy kitchen, which is fitted with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dining table large enough to study maps and guidebooks ahead of another action-packed day. Off the kitchen, a deep step leads down into a spacious boot room, which houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and rainy day cupboard full of DVDs, books and games. This is also a useful space for drying wet boots and coats overnight. At the end of a long day, relax and unwind in the spacious lounge, which has an open fire for chilly evenings, TV and even an upright piano for musical nights. This property boasts two well-presented bedrooms, one king-size with an elegant metal-framed bed and en-suite shower room and one twin bedroom with access to the family bathroom, which has a shower over the bath.

Outside, a sunny tiered seating area with a picnic bench enjoys spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. There is private off-road parking for one car.

Our stay was very comfortable and the accommodation was clean and spacious. Would highly recommend. There was no back garden or enclosed space at the front which I was aware when booking but it made it slightly more difficult with dogs. There was a park just at the back of the property which was great to use. Great location in Windermere to town ceRead morentre and for walks. Would stay again. Hide

No complaints whatsoever great place to stay, everything from views to very comfortable beds, not far from walks, park and Windermere all a short distance away.

The house itself is pretty basic and could do with some updating, but it has everything you need. There are great walks right from the doorstep, and the lively harbour of Bownes is only a stonesthrow away.

Lovely cosy and warm place for our holiday walking in the Lakes. Very clean with ample kitchen equipment. Good location, walk up from town is uphill but isn't far. The drive parking is too tight but we were able to easily park on the road right outside the house so it wasn't a problem. Overall we were very happy with the accommodation.

A lovely cottage, very well maintained and in a convenient location. There isn't a private garden for dogs, but there is a great park less than 30 meters away to the right. The utility room was very convenient for cleaning the dogs off after returning from a walk. I'd definitely stay again in the future.

A comfortable property, spacious, practical and well equipped, in a lovely quiet location. The drive access is tricky but there is plenty of road parking. There is easy access to the hustle and bustle of Windermere and Bowness and all the south lakes has to offer.

Location is at the top of a hill between Windermere and Bowness . Bungalow was clean and tidy. Rooms are a good size with large windows although close bushes restrict the daylight in the bedrooms. Bathrooms modern- one with large shower, one with bath. Good quality towels. Kitchen well equipped (excellent large fridge-freezer) but cooker didnt workRead more. Garden space only at front of the bungalow overlooking the quiet road. Careful reversing needed to park in the one-car parking space . Hide
