Encompassed by the River Eden, Appleby is a wonderful town and holiday destination. Visit the Norman castle which lies less than half a mile from home or hop on a train on the Settle to Carlisle Railway which passes through during summer months. Head further afield and you can discover some truly beautiful sights. High Cup Nick sits 6 miles away and is a fantastic place to walk whilst Cross Fell is 12 miles from home and is the highest mountain in the Pennine Hills. If you fancy a spot of retail therapy or a delicious meal out, travel 15 miles to Penrith.

Great for a couple or individual traveller, this home is a wonderful place to escape the hustle and bustle of your everyday life. Step inside via the vestibule area which leads into the kitchen/diner. Put the kettle on and find all you need to cook up a storm, sitting beneath the exposed beams. There is plenty of space to rustle up delicious feasts and to prepare picnics to fuel your adventurous days in the great outdoors, and it is well-equipped with an electric oven, electric and gas hobs, a microwave, dishwasher and fridge. Plate up at the table which seats six. When it’s time to put your feet up, seven steps lead to the welcoming lounge area. The wood burner-effect gas fire is a winning feature for your dog and promises to keep the cold at bay on chilly days. Switch on the SkyTV or put on your favourite DVD for a film night or a date night in this cosy bolthole. The handy WC and utility room with freezer and washing machine can be reached via the lounge. After long days outside, enjoy a peaceful sleep in the double bedroom via another small set of stairs from the lounge – please take care as there are low ceiling beams in here.Freshen up in the en-suite shower room with WC and low sloping ceiling before taking your morning coffee into the conservatory, next to the lounge for a chilled start to the morning.

With a BBQ for sundowner evenings, enjoy sizzling treats on the patio and enclosed gravelled yard where a table and chairs offer you a place to sit and enjoy al fresco dinners. Put the parasol up if the days are sunny and warm and you need a spot of shade. Store bikes in the lockable shed and make the most of the off-road parking spaces where there is room for two cars.

Our second stay in Colby Lane. First stay was pre Covid so been a while. Has everything you could possibly need. We have a dog and could wander about in the secure back garden. The car can park there too. Very quiet area but only a short walk down to the town centre although a bit hilly on the way back. Thoroughly recommended on all fronts.

Perfect accomodation in a great location. Had everything you could need. Lovely and comfortable, cosy but spacious for 2 adults and a dog. Handy for the Yorkhire moors and the Eastern lakes. Lots to see and do within an hours drive. Great places to eat and drink in the town. Good walks straight from the door for the dog. Just perfect, thank you.
