The cottage is set in the friendly village of Newby, just 7 miles south of the market town of Penrith and 5 miles west of the historic town of Appleby in the peaceful Eden Valley. There are lots of opportunities to go cycling along quiet country roads, including the Lakes and Dales Loop for experienced cyclists. The route takes in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Eden Valley, Morecambe Bay, and West Cumbria. The Lake District National Park is just a short drive away, where you can walk the fells and discover the quieter northern lakes, take a trip on one of the Ullswater Steamers, go on a walking experience with an alpaca, or enjoy a tour of a boutique gin distillery.

After walking into the hallway, you will find the bright open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. In the lounge area, there is a Smart TV, an eco friendly bio-ethanol fire and comfy seating making this the perfect place to curl up of an evening. The kitchen area is well-equipped, with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, nespresso machine and milk frother, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The dining area is where you can catch up over breakfast or dinner and plan the day ahead. Head up to the first floor and you will find two bedrooms, including a double with an en-suite bathroom with hand-held shower over bath, separate shower and WC. Next door there is a 3ft twin zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request at the time of booking), with en-suite shower room with a large shower and WC.

There is an enclosed, south-facing back garden with comfortable table and chairs; a great place to enjoy a morning coffee, read a good book or stargaze at night. There is also lockable storage in the heated drying room, where you’ll find a washing machine and Butler sink – this is suitable for bikes and walking kit, and can be accessed either from the garden or the front of the property. There is roadside parking outside the house (subject to availability), which is unrestricted.

Lovely cosy yet very modern cottage in the heart of a traditional village, fantastic walking all around friendly villagers, a great base for exploring the Dales or the Lakes. Very convenient for the M6. I would highly recommend. Our host really wanted us to have a quality stay at the cottage which we did.

The Cottage was beautiful. One room was freezing, one room was warm. We had a lovely time at Rambler Rose. It was a lovely home from home feel with a boutique hotel feel in the bedrooms. The beds were super comfy. Our week was a bit wet so the drying room was a perfect addition. Would recommend.
