The cottage is located metres from the sandy beach and long promenade of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, ideal for sunrise walks, relaxing sunset strolls, and views of The Couple sculpture out at sea. This is a great family seaside base with friendly shops, pubs and places to eat. Visit the Maritime Centre Museum and Cafe, Woodhorn Museum for local history and play golf with a seascape backdrop. As the gateway to Northumberland’s superb coastline, discover Cresswell Beach (5 miles) for ice creams and Druridge Bay Country Park’s lake and beach 11 miles away. Head to Amble’s bustling marina and harbour (13.5 miles) for lovely food, and from there, walk along the river to Warkworth’s medieval castle and beach. Inland, Alnwick Castle and Gardens (27 miles) is a great day out for all the family.

This cheerful property retains much of its original character and feel of its seafaring past, whilst benefitting from a thoroughly modern renovation, and presenting a warm welcome to its guests. Step through the front door into the hallway, where you can leave your coats and shoes before heading into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Relax and unwind on the comfortable seating with the cosy wood burner warming your toes while you watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV. The kitchen, with its low, sloping ceiling, has everything you need to plan and prepare your meals with an electric oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, microwave, a dishwasher and a useful washer/dryer. Dine together at the table and sit with your morning coffee and maps, planning your day’s adventures. At bedtime, head upstairs to find a charming king-size bedroom with open storage, and a quirky bunk bedroom that the children will love - each bunk bed has its own cubby-hole for storing books and secret treasures. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over the bath and a WC.

There is no garden with this centrally located property, however, the beach is just metres away at the end of the street. Here you can stroll on the promenade, play on the sand or take an evening picnic/BBQ for sunset al fresco dining. Parking for one car is roadside in front of the property (subject to availability) and there is ample free parking nearby.

What a lovely little cottage in a great spot. The beach at the side of the golf course is dog friendly and also at the south (needlepoint) end is also dog friendly. The walk along the promenade is lovely and so clean. Cambois beach is dog friendly and is absolutely stunning. Morpeth is a great shopping town about a 20 minute drive away. Quite a fewRead more coffee shops and 3 pubs serving food in Newbiggin. Hide

We LOVED this comfortable well equipped cottage. Everything was lovely. We felt very relaxed as soon as we walked through the door. The cottage is in a area that's extremely near the sea (it can be seen from the landing window and front door step.) Parking is easy which is roadside but plenty of choice. The bed is comfortable but for some may be veRead morery low to the floor. There's plenty of dishes, glasses & cutlery (I hate only been provided with the minimum.) We will return if in the area. Great little cottage close to the beach & Church Point where you can watch for dolphins. Good local amenities from well-stocked Co-op 200 yards away & smashing independent food & drink outlets. Coastal path for walkers & access to other brilliant beaches by road north and south.

Fine for a relaxing stay by the seaside. Newbiggin eschews the gaudiness of Blackpool. A good range of small shops in Newbiggin & nearby Ashington has a large Asda superstore and a good leisure centre. I think possibly the mattress and pillows need to be upgraded to a mid-range product from a company such as Dormeo/Simba etc. In August the temperatRead moreure indoors can decrease to ca. 17 degrees so an auxiliary source of heating would be useful. I had to buy a small 750W plug-in heater from Argos. Hide
