Set adjacent to the owner’s property, this delightful single-storey stone cottage boasts cosy accommodation for couples seeking a peaceful retreat with stunning views. Located in a remote location in the Abergwesyn Valley, lace up your walking boots for days walking the unspoilt countryside or hop in the saddle to explore the valley by pedal power. You’re not completely cut off from civilisation though, the peaceful village of Beulah (2 miles) has a local store for your everyday essentials and a welcoming pub for a quiet evening drink. Slightly further afield, Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Wales and home of bog-snorkelling, has a choice of shops, cafes and restaurants. Stroll along the banks of the River Irfon or head out on a pony trek with the town’s riding school. The tranquil waters of Llandrindod Wells Lake Park (16 miles) can be enjoyed on a ramble around the lake in search of the perfect picnic spot before stopping at the National Cycle Museum in the town to see the displays of over 250 cycles. The Elan Valley is a popular local visitor attraction and nearby you will also find the stunning Red Kite feeding station which can attract over 200 kites at times.

Reached via a wooden bridge or by crossing the ford, park your car and step out on the gravel drive. Step through the main front door into the small orangery where you will find the private entrance to your ground-floor cottage. Enter into the open-plan kitchen/diner, a light and airy space. The kitchen area is fully equipped with everything you need for a home-from-home stay including an electric cooker, microwave and grill, a fridge and a dishwasher. The freezer is located in the next-door utility room shared with the owners. Enjoy meals at the centrally positioned dining table before crossing to the lounge area to relax in one of the comfortable armchairs in front of the SkyTV or view the constant stream of birds at the feeders outside the window. For cooler evenings, there is a coal effect electric fire for extra warmth. When it’s time for bed, step through into the light and airy double bedroom. A shower room with WC completes the accommodation.

Outside are the fabulous shared grounds and gardens, part of the National Gardens Scheme, with over 30 bird nest boxes, numerous benches and garden furniture dotted throughout. Enjoy the views across the valley from the upper garden with water, bog and winter gardens. The main garden has a wonderful walk through the fragrant flowers and colourful shrubs to the summer house, a delightful spot for tea. Picnic by the stream, keeping watch for trout and salmon in the water. There is storage available for mountain bikes and ample parking.
