Property code: CA278

On the western edge of the Coigach peninsula and reached by a quiet winding road passing the famous Stac Pollaidh, this spacious cottage is a real escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Surrounded by water on three sides, spend your days discovering the sandy beaches and exploring the plentiful rock pools. Paddle your way around the coastline in a kayak or canoe or walk the coastal path in search of the perfect deserted cove for a picnic lunch. Enjoy the tranquillity of your surroundings as you fish for wild trout or paint the incredible views of the Summer Isles against the backdrop of the Torridon mountains. If you can tear yourself away from your holiday haven, make the short drive to Achiltibuie (6 miles) to stock up on provisions in the general store and enjoy a sociable drink in the village pub, or make the longer journey to Ullapool (27 miles) for shops, restaurants and museums.

As you approach your beachside bolthole you will be greeted by one of the most unforgettable views of the Summer Isles spanning the horizon and know you are heading for a truly remarkable destination at one of the hidden gems of the Highlands. Park your car next to your remote retreat and take a deep breath of the cleansing air. Gaze at the water glinting in the sunlight and at the imposing mountains before turning to enter your cottage. Your holiday home's interiors reflect its seaside location with white floorboards and natural fabrics, wool and furs. Step into the hallway where you can leave coats, wellies and walking boots before heading into your spacious living room. With a large picture window overlooking the gardens and across the water, spend an hour curled up in one of the cosy chairs with your feet up watching the ever-changing colours of the sea. Chat late into the night on the plump sofas with the fire crackling and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach outside. Cooking is not a chore in the well-designed kitchen with views across the water to the mountains beyond. Equipped with an electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge and freezer for storage of your provisions, microwave and dishwasher, you have everything you need to make your holiday a home-from-home. Prepare freshly caught seafood and local produce to be enjoyed around the dining table as you plan your next day's adventures. Off the kitchen is a handy utility room with a washing machine to rinse through sandy beachwear. From the hallway, there are four well-appointed bedrooms, each with its own colour scheme and individual style. Both double bedrooms have ample storage for your belongings. Wake up in the morning to the light playing against the spectacular mountains and on the clear water. Two cosy twin bedrooms are restful spaces with plump duvets and soft throws. With walls adorned with interesting artwork, the family bathroom is bright and colourful with a separate shower, washbasin and WC. A further shower room with washbasin and WC is perfect for freshening up after a day on the beach or hiking the coastal path.

Put up the deckchairs in the garden to watch the seabirds swooping overhead or stretch out your blanket for an al fresco picnic by the water. Take the few steps to the beach and shoreline for a paddle or light the fire-pit BBQ, grill some freshly caught seafood and gaze at the stars glistening in the dark skies overhead. If you are fortunate enough, you may even see the Northern Lights on display.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful environment. There is something quite satisfying and special about driving to the very last house at the uttermost end of the road, way out in Assynt. The large, well-equipped kitchen was a joy to cook in and our family really enjoyed our stay here.

Place is in great shape, communication was perfect. The ample information provided was very helpful when ordering fresh, locally caught seafood from the Achiltibuie store. Beds, sheets, linen, towels: All great. Kitchen well equipped. Only reason for 4 out of 5 stars with equipment: The electric stove has not much power; it is virtually impossible Read moreto cook dishes for 8 people that require a lot of boling water. If you want to discover Assynt and Coigach: This is the place! Hide

A wonderful place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature. We really enjoyed our stay. We will really miss our walks on the rough sea in the incomparable Scottish weather. The cottage is very lovingly furnished and well equipped. Sara is a very nice and extremely helpful hostess. We will be very happy to come back :-)
