Situated in the charming village of Carlton, within the favoured Yorkshire Dales National Park, you can enjoy an abundance of scenic walks and countryside views from your doorstep. The village pub provides refreshment for tired legs after a day out exploring, while Middleham (4.5 miles) has a great selection of places to eat as well as a castle to explore. Aysgarth Falls, 7 miles away, is a must-see.

Climb the steps up to the front door and step inside to discover the grand entrance hall. The interior of the house has been decorated in keeping with its Georgian origins, with period features and classic tones throughout. The generous sitting room has space for the whole group to snuggle up in front of the log burner while you browse for your favourite TV shows. A separate snug with a TV and board games lets the kids have their own space while you catch up with friends and family. You can all come together in the kitchen, where a large butchers’ block adds to the traditional farmhouse feel and a range cooker, an induction hob and a dishwasher make cooking – and washing up – hassle-free. You can rustle up a delicious meal for the whole gang, then settle down to eat at the window-side dining table while enjoying the view. The ground floor is also home to a handy cloakroom and a boot room with extra white goods, including a washing machine and dryer. Walk back into the hallway to climb the sweeping staircase, where you’ll discover the property’s three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super king-size bed to sink into after a long day exploring and an en-suite shower room to luxuriate in when you wake up. The second bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, while the final bedroom has a super king bed or if requested two full-size single beds and a window seat to enjoy the garden views. Completing the accommodation is a family bathroom with a roll-top bath so you can relax in style.

There is ample space outside to relax, too. Take a seat on the bench by the front lawn and enjoy a book in the sunshine or dine alfresco in the walled rear garden while the kids play on the lawn.

Very short walk to the pub which was welcoming and food was good. Loved how we could eat our fish and chips from the local van in the pub too! Lovely walks in the vicinity. This is a very comfortable and well equiped house in an excellent location for walking, visiting the dales and having a drink or meal in a great pub within walking distance from the door. The house was clean, fully equiped with everything we needed for cooking and relaxing and accomodated 6 adults easily. We had a great weekend.

Our second stay in this lovely house, and some very sunny weather, so we sought out shade and coincided with one of the days that the delightful Constable Burton gardens were open. Also visited the Thorp Perrow Arboretum and caught the display of the owls, fascinating. We did the walk 'up the back' of the house, which was quite a climb up onto the Read moremoor, but were rewarded with some spectacular views back across the dale. We can also highly recommend the Leyburn Shawl walk for more views. Hide

A beautiful house in a lovely small village. A lot of care and attention must have gone into refurbishing the property, which has far more character than the usual holiday let. The garden, similarly, has a range of plants that give it more of a personal feel. Extremely well equipped, from the kitchen to the bedrooms. A good base for walking or day Read moretrips to Swaledale and Wensleydale, even to York or Castle Howard. The local pub is OK but we had a wonderful supper in the Wensleydale Heifer. Hide
