This inviting property in Rothbury enjoys one of the most spectacular views in the area, overlooking the stunning Coquetdale Valley and the Simonside Hills within the Northumberland National Park. If you’re in the mood for a day trip, Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Beach, and the magnificent Bamburgh Castle are all within easy reach. History enthusiasts will love exploring Holy Island, while stargazers will be in awe of the International Dark Sky Park, Europe’s largest protected night sky, making this the best place in England to stargaze. If you enjoy walking, there are plenty of scenic routes, both long and short, right on your doorstep, as well as fantastic cycle paths. The village itself offers a host of attractions and activities, including a picturesque golf course, river fishing, and the iconic National Trust-owned Cragside House and Gardens, a must-visit for history lovers. You’ll also find a charming selection of independent shops, cosy pubs, delicious restaurants, art galleries, and delightful gift shops, not to mention the irresistible ice cream parlour—perfect for a holiday treat!

Set in a picturesque, elevated position within the village, this reverse-level home is spread across three floors, accessed via a set of stone steps leading to the front door (please take care). Enter the property on the ground floor, where you’ll find a convenient porch area for coats and boots. A utility room with a washing machine and drying area is just off the hallway, as well as a separate WC. From here, three steps lead you up to the first floor, where the spacious lounge/diner awaits. Here, you can unwind on comfortable sofas, enjoy panoramic views, and relax in front of the wood burner. For your entertainment, there is a Smart TV. The dining area offers the perfect spot for meals with a view, framed by sliding doors that open out to the balcony. Also on this level, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen, complete with an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher.
On the lower ground floor, you’ll discover three comfortable bedrooms, a sauna, and a newly refurbished bathroom featuring both a shower and bath, as well as a WC. There are two generous bedrooms—a king-size and a double—along with a cosy bunk room that offers direct access to the patio and garden. For the ultimate relaxation, why not indulge in the sauna, complete with two-tier seating to accommodate everyone?

Outside, the balcony offers the perfect spot for a drink, with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Alternatively, head down to the lower patio area, where you can fire up the BBQ and enjoy al fresco dining with more outdoor seating. The large, natural garden is a true haven, filled with mature trees and shrubs—ideal for family games, hide-and-seek, or birdwatching. For those feeling more adventurous, there’s a stile at the bottom of the garden, leading to a footpath into the village. Or, you can easily access the footpath via steps leading to the road.

We cannot fault this property. It is very well equipped, comfortable and the views from the living area are sublime. The owner provided a nice welcome pack. We didn't use the sauna as we had young children with us, but it looks very cosy. We liked the location which is on a steep hill, hence the stunning views to the Simonside Ridge, (there's a cluRead moree to the property's name), but it wouldn't be ideal for anybody with mobilty problems, as there are steps down from the road to the entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Simonside View. The home is comfortable and welcoming, with glorious views across the valley. We walked into Rothbury town and along the river, and also visited Alnwick, Alnmouth and Warkworth during our stay. We are so glad we decided to stay here, and would highly recommend it others.
