This property enjoys a quiet village location in the village of Whitwell, just two miles from the Isle of Wight’s beautiful south coast with its abundance of beaches and warm microclimate. The village itself is home to a family-run pub which is located a ten-minute walk from the property, whilst just three miles down the road in Ventnor there is a wide choice of pubs, restaurants, and cafes to choose from, many of which can be found on the town’s esplanade. The beach at Ventnor has a fantastic sandy beach, whilst the neighbouring beach at Steephill Cove can only be accessed by foot, and offers a quiet secluded beach with a seafront restaurant and even a resident donkey.

There is one shallow step which leads up to the front door of this detached single-storey cottage, and directly into the open-plan lounge/diner. This comfortable room has a choice of seating from which to enjoy the TV/DVD at the end of a busy day, whilst the dining table sits between the lounge area and the doorway which leads through to the kitchen. This well-equipped room has everything that guests will need to prepare all their favourite dishes including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The bedroom meanwhile is a peaceful double room which benefits from its own TV making it perfect for enjoying some late-night television. The bathroom offers not only a bath, but also a separate shower cubicle and WC.

Patio doors from the lounge lead directly out to the wonderfully spacious garden, where guests will find a relaxing patio area complete with chairs and sun loungers, overlooking the generously-sized lawns which are bordered by mature shrubs and fruit trees. It is a haven for wildlife with red squirrels and a variety of birds often seen, aswell as clear and twinkly night skies if the weather is right. There is off-road parking for one car.

Very comfortable accommodation. Nicely positioned to watch the red squirrels in the garden. Many footpaths located close to the cottage . The hosts, Sarah and Richard could not be more friendly or helpful. Highly recommended

A very nice place to stay. We enjoyed the wildlife in the garden Badgers, Red Squirrels, woodpeckers and even a Pheasant would walk by. The place was very clean and tidy with all you would need. Very helpful hosts.

Excellent cottage, well situated for exploring the island. A warm welcome from our hosts. The garden was a delight and the wild life was amazing. Daily visits from red squirrels, badgers and a variety of birds. Unhesitatingly recommend!

An ideal base whether you are touring the island or want to rest and relax. We were there during a bitterly cold week in February and spent as much time enjoying the warmth and comfort of the cottage as we did visiting various parts of the island. Lovely rural cottage run by welcoming couple Sarah & Richard.Quite isolated for amenities but if you like the wildlife( flora and fauna type!)that is.this place is outstanding. Viewing red squirrels and badgers at your doorstep. Maybe a little dated inside for some people but the place is lovely and clean/tidy.

An excellent place to stay in a very good location especially for cycling. The badgers & red squirrels in the garden a bonus. Nothing was too much trouble for Sarah and Richard. They made sure that the guests had a great holiday. After a day exploring the Isle of Wight we could come back to a home not just a base. So pleased for us when we had seen the red squirrels and badgers in the garden .

A lovely bungalow with a garden full of wildlife. We watched badgers every evening and saw the red squirrel several times. The bus stop for Ventnor and Newport is close by. It is very peaceful and relaxing.

Great location. Cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing week on the Isle of Wight. The hosts do an amazing job, they were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The garden was lovely to look out onto and it was lovely and peaceful. We would love to holiday there again.

The owners were most welcoming and made our stay an enjoyable one. We discovered on arrival the basket of goddies including some home made jam, biscuits, fruit & milk, which enabled us to have a cup of tea after the journey - nice touch. Fantastic location. Lodge was very comfortable, very well equipped and spotlessly clean.. Sarah and John were very friendly and welcoming. Lodge is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the nature was phenomenal. Watching the badgers every night was very special and not something you see every day. Highly recommend Brook Lodge.
