Property code: CHL39

Set on the fringes of the market town of Leominster (1 mile) and surrounded by fields and rolling countryside, this Grade II-listed cottage is perfect for couples or small families planning days of adventure together. Stroll into town on sunny days, uncovering Leominster’s Tudor buildings, antique shops, and eateries, pubs and supermarkets. For interesting days out nearby, head to the National Trust sites of Berrington Hall and Croft Castle (both within 10 miles). Slightly further afield, the cathedral city of Hereford offers a day of shopping, eating out and discovering local history; as does the market town of Ludlow (13 miles) which sits over the border in neighbouring Shropshire. If you don’t fancy travelling far, simply pull on your walking boots or mount your bike to explore the surrounding rural lanes and trails.

Step through the front door of this inviting property and into the entrance hallway where you can kick off walking boots, pass the ground-floor WC, and enter the social heart of the home – the open-plan lounge/diner. Boasting exposed wooden beams and brick walls, this sumptuous room combines original features with homely comforts that include a crackling wood burner, Smart TV and restful furnishings. On warm days, swing open the patio doors for some seamless indoor/outdoor living. When stomachs begin to rumble, walk through the archway and into the well-appointed kitchen. Find all you need here for a self-catered stay and gather at the dining table inside – or on the patio outside – to enjoy the chef’s work. At the end of each busy day away, head up to the first floor where two delightful bedrooms await. Choose from a double bedroom and a super-king-size room with zip-and-link beds that convert to twins on request – both rooms benefit from peaceful, verdant views. Serving the bedrooms and completing the interior is a well-appointed family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside, make full use of two splendid garden areas. Find an unenclosed lawn section to the front of the cottage and a more private and peaceful, enclosed rear garden. At the rear, play garden games on the lawn, settle with your holiday read under the apple and plum trees, and enjoy al fresco meals and evening tipples on the furnished patio – where you’ll also find a charcoal BBQ. Guests benefit from ample off-road parking.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (coverts to twins on request)

  • Smart TV in lounge
  • Wood burner in lounge (first basket of logs supplied)

We really enjoyed staying in the cottage. It was better equipped with cooking and eating utensils than many other cottages we had stayed in. The garden was a good size. There was a great collection of board games: the Belgian version of Monopoly was fun.

Rather smaller than expected, but warm and comfortable. Not suitable for a lot of dogs (low fencing, a main road on one side beyond the unsuitable fencing and adjoining fields on the other side, all too easily accessed for dogs with high prey drives). Beyond the property, there are no public footpaths for about 1/2 mile.

The cottage was very cosy and comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The shower works well with good pressure. The road is incredibly busy and people drive quite fast so walking to the field to walk your dog is quite precarious.

A lovely cottage. We immediately felt at home. Spotlessly clean, comfortable sofas and beds and good quality towels. Also, in a great position for visiting many beautiful gardens, and interesting towns like Hay on Wye and Ludlow, within half an hour. Peaceful location in a pretty cul-de-sac of character houses. Highly recommend.

It was a very comfy and warm cottage.. It was easy to find in a lovely location. Would highly recommend. Local Area: Although there were good supermarkets and fish and chip shop in Leominster the town was a little rundown. A visit to Ludlow, Westonbury Mill Water Gardens and the cider company are highly recommended.

Very good on the whole. Spacious rooms, handy for the town centre by car (it's less than the 30 minute walk described but the twisting, initially path-less road is potentially hazardous for pedestrians). Agree with Paul's June 2023 review - were a few small cobwebs. Several reviews say how comfortable the beds are but slightly firm for me. N.B.
