Hawkshead is known all around the world for its connections to Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, both of whom are celebrated in two of the village’s National Trust properties. Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are both within a five-mile drive of the cottage with a great range of water sports for all the family.

This cottage offers a wonderful break away from the stresses of everyday life, and guests will immediately feel relaxed as soon as they enter the comfortable lounge with its sofas, electric fire, TV/DVD, and hi-fi. The property’s kitchen/diner is light and spacious, with a pine dining table seating six, oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Just off from this room is a wonderfully light and sunny conservatory, which offers guests a place to sit with a drink and enjoy the uninterrupted views over the neighbouring countryside. There is also a handy ground-floor WC. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, all of which are tastefully decorated in a restful and understated style. The first of these is a king-size room, whilst there is also a twin room and a bunk bedroom which is suitable for younger guests. The bathroom, also located on the first floor, has a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the property enjoys a quiet, attractive garden with patioed seating area.

We had a great week at Primrose Cottage in Hawkshead and will hope to go back before too long. The cottage had everything we needed for a holiday with three generations and a dog! Cosy and comfortable, very well appointed kitchen/utility and the conservatory so useful for drying and extra storage. The village location is perfect for access on foot Read moreto the village with its coop shop, chippy and several pubs. Lovely local walks from the village, so some days we didnt even use the car. West View Cottage is perfectly placed just outside Hawkshead, with only a short walk down to the village. The cottage was warm, cosy, well equipped, with stunning views over the fields and hills at the back. This cottage had everything and more. We loved it. We brought our small dog and as we all know, dogs and rain = dog smell. So it was great for our dog to dry off in the sun room when you 1st enter the property, before entering the main house. It rained everyday but that didnt spoil our trip at all. Although this property is regarded as a cottage it is a good sized house with plenty of room both inside and out. Modern equipment. Smart Tv with apps and many channels. Lovely property in a great location. A really practical cottage that works well in the mixed weather of the LD. Great facilities in general, really useful dryer, comfy beds, good shower, sun room to dry wet boots etc. Enjoyed our stay, booked for next year already!

The location of this cottage is fantastic with a lovely view of the fields on the edge of Hawkshead. The house was immaculately clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We loved the house and the surrounding areas and I would highly recommend staying at this property.
