Just returned home after a lovely week in such a lovely house. We got pretty grim weather towards the end of the week so made good use of the log burner which was very easy to use. A great house/cottage in a good location central to the south east Lake District. Well equipped and modern especially the downstairs kitchen and open lounge. The log burner in the kitchen lounge area made things very cosy even on a cold night in June! Loads of information on walks and plenty of games and puzzles to keep amused during the evenings. Beautiful, cozy, nicely provisioned home with amazing views of hills, village & a sheep field right in front. Charmed by the Herdwick hogg gang of four who stuck together, running around like a pack of teens! Beds, furniture, all comfortable, lots of hot water, well equipped kitchen and appliances. All the utensils, pots & pans you would need. TownRead more has good restaurants, easy to access walks, and a tourist center for information. Buses run frequently if you want to go carless. Our third stay at Applerigg in Hawkshead. A very comfortable, well appointed house, very close to the Hawkshead village amenities including the very popular Little Ice Cream Shop. With good walks to be had from the door, the car can have a holiday as well.

Great location, Hawkshead is lovely, quiet but with good pubs and shops. Cottage well-equipped, with lots of space, inc two living rooms. A push for a larger group (our kids are now adults) given there is just one bathroom, but fine for a family. Dog could jump the stone wall so needed to be supervised outside.
