This quaint country cottage is conveniently located on the main road in the heart of the village of Brede, with easy access to local bus routes and its cosy pub which produces and sells its own fresh bread every day, as well as offering take away fish and chips alongside their usual bar menu. Also worth a visit are the fascinating and beautifully restored steam water pumps, The Giants of Brede. Keen walkers will enjoy exploring the many footpaths that cris cross the High Weald AONB and for those looking to explore slightly further afield, the towns of Hastings and Rye are both a five-mile drive and have much to offer visitors, from the host of quirky independent shops in Rye to the beachfront and fresh fish stalls in Hastings.

As soon as you arrive at this picket-fenced cottage you will feel as if you have arrived in the heart of the countryside. As you enter this cosy cottage the lounge can be found to the right of the front door. This room is comfortably furnished with two sofas collected around the inglenook fireplace with open-fire, as well as the Smart TV, Netflix and DVD for quiet nights in. Continue to the kitchen, where the low beam ceiling means it has retained much of its original charm whilst offering everything the cook needs, including electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. The dining table is here too with comfortable seating for four. The backdoor opens out from the kitchen onto an enclosed courtyard. The main bathroom is located on the ground floor, with hand-held shower over bath and WC. Narrow steep stairs lead to the first floor where there are two bedrooms: a double and a twin, that complete the cottage.

Outside there is a typical cottage-style courtyard garden, which has a picnic table for al fresco meals and a BBQ for guests’ use.

Adored this quaint little cottage. If you have a dog the woods nearby at Broad oak are fabulous for dog exercise. Anyone over 56 needs to watch their head on the beams.

Well appointed cottage with a number of dog walks nearby. A fairly busy road at the front in the morning and evening but this is counter-balanced by the fact that the bus stops are within yards and the service is frequent. Location is suitable for travelling to Tenterden, a pleasant town, or to Hastings, seaside. Next door is a pub which serves botRead moreh good beer and meals. An enjoyable stay for myself and my dog. Such a pretty cottage. Low head heights so caution booking if you are tall! We loved our mini break and not only was it dog friendly there was a super cute bowl and treat waiting for our pooch on arrival. A lovely touch from the owners

Very clean and well equipped cottage. The location was very central to all the areas we wanted to visit. Lovely welcome gifts, including treats for our dog. The cottage garden was secure for our dog. Wonderful food at the Red Lion pub next door., and they allowed us to use their car park. Absolutely loved our holiday at Clare Cottage.

Clare cottage is a very comfortable well equipped property. Beams are low. I am 5ft 7in and had to bend when coming down stairs and through doors. Lovely court yard garden which is secure for your fur baby. Ideal base with plenty of places to visit.

Although a delightful property there are obvious limitations that place statutory obligation to a designated grade listed dwelling. The dwelling was obviously suited to height as it was in the previous 2 centuries. My height is ( old money ) 6 feet and 3 inches and is a no brainer ( pun not intended ) in terms of mobility. To be fair there is a heiRead moreght notice at the foot of the stairs. In terms of perspective booking it would be best practice to alert one to height restriction. Thank you. Hide

Very happy week at Clare cottage. Very cosy and had everything we needed. Perfect location for towns like Rye, Old Hastings and Bexhill on Sea. Also great footpath walking to local villages. Lots of National Trust. Red Lion pub a couple of doors down (not that we heard a thing from it) cooks yummy food, very friendly, we even bought freshly baked cRead moreroissants from them one morning! The owners of Clare Cottage - Alec and his partner were extremely helpful. Fab beers, juices and milk on arrival. Hide
