Enjoying a delightful village position, Marmalade Cottage has wonderful local amenities close by. After a day spent traversing the undulating hills and steep peaks of the surrounding landscape, guests can head to the local pub, The Bowling Green Inn for a spot of lunch and to rest those aching legs. The nearby town of Matlock offers even more, including a railway station which makes Marmalade Cottage easily accessible by both road and rail.

Guests enter the cottage into a good size reception dining area, stepping across the part stone flagged, part wooden floors it is immeditaley clear that this property is brimming with character. A door to the rear of the hallway leads through to the kitchen which is equipped with all the necessities. Another door off the hall takes guests through to the lounge which has exposed beams, stone fagged floors and a woodburner set into a gritstone fireplace, which gives the room a wonderful ambience. A utility-storage room is located just off the lounge and provides space for those muddy boots and wet coats. Arched leaded windows throughout the property are a nod to the history that is embedded within the stone walls.

The original 300 year old staircase leads up to the first floor and the two bedrooms. The first bedroom contains two single beds and has an original stone fireplace which makes a central feature of the room. The second spacious bedroom has a king size bed and beautiful views towards the front of the property. There is a main bathroom with a bath, shower-over, toilet and hand basin. At the end of the upstairs corridor there is a third study room complete with a desk and bookcases. Double doors open out onto the pretty lawn garden.

The delightful cottage garden can also be accessed via a set of external stairs from the ground floor. There is a steep rockery where care with children will need to be taken. There is also a patio seating area located just off the kitchen.

Lovely cottage with fantastic character. We really enjoyed our stay here, excellent location within the village centre. Nice pub and shop very close by. Comfy, cosy and well equipped cottage in the beautiful village of Winster. The point of contact for the cottage was very nice and accommodating. All in all, I can thoroughly recommend this cottage.

The cottage is in a great location in the middle of the village just opposite the pub and has parking for 1 car. The cottage was beautifully presented with a decent supply of pans and crockery. The beds were very comfortable

Lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage. Utility area was very useful to store our food etc so it didnt clutter the kitchen. Also hooks for coats in there. We loved our week at Marmalade Cottage. The well equipped cottage is full of character and the garden is beautiful. Winster is also lovely and having the pub and shop so close was great. Would recommend tea and cake in the church at the weekends. We enjoyed exploring the local area and would recommend.

Great location and full of character with a really lovely secluded garden. Great shower and efficient central heating. Original and ancient stairs are more like a ladder, so not for the faint of heart.

Great location for peace and quiet in a friendly village. There were some slight issues with cleanliness but overall a very enjoyable week away. There are some great surrounding places to visit such as Chatsworth House, Buxton, Eyam and Matlock Bath. The car space is tight but manageable. Others have said there is little light, and this is fair, buRead moret we felt that the lighting was adequate with the lamps provided. This was a very well equipped cottage and a real escape. Hide

+ Well equipped kitchen + Comfy beds + Great local shop + Spacious rooms + Easy access to local tourist areas, walks etc - 'Off road' parking is actually squeezed in against the front of the cottage, partially on the narrow road, to describle this as 'off road' is a misrepresentation - Mouldy shower screen - We had to deal with previous incumbents Read morerubbish sacks (multiple) surely cleaning staff should not leave this for us? A really nice cottage. Well appointed, very clean with cosy rooms and comfy beds. I banged my head on the low door frames a couple times, but that's to be expected with such an old building. Proximity to the pub was very handy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
