Treat yourself to a stay at this quintessential thatched cottage in an historic hamlet. This pretty property features exposed low beams and wooden floors and enjoys a peaceful location within a cluster of character properties. It is just a short distance from the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon (under 2 miles); perfect for making the most of Shakespeare’s birthplace. Shottery, where Anne Hathaway – Shakespeare’s wife – was born, offers easy access to some of Warwickshire’s historic towns including Warwick (10.5 miles) with its impressive castle. A little further afield are a host of traditional Cotswold villages to visit, including Chipping Campden (13.5 miles). You’re also well placed for visiting the National Trust properties of Charlecote Park (7 miles), set within a landscaped deer park, and the impressive Tudor house Coughton Court (9 miles). Walking enthusiasts can head out on the many waymarked paths in the area, including the Heart of England Way.
The cottage is truly charming, with wonderful (sometimes low) original beams throughout, alongside characterful furniture and intriguing trinkets. In the lounge, you can relax on the comfy sofa in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire and watch the Smart TV. Just off the lounge is a light and bright dining area/sun room with a glass roof, which is a great place to enjoy sociable meals prepared in the well-appointed kitchen or curl up with a good book. The bathroom with a shower over the bath is on this floor, as well as a utility room with a washer/dryer. Upstairs are the two unique and quirky bedrooms – a double and a twin. The twin is at the top of the stairs to the left, so take care when stepping out onto the stairs. Between the bedrooms is an additional lounge – a peaceful haven with its own wood burner-effect electric fire. After a busy day out and about, take a drink out from the sun room into the pretty, enclosed private garden. Here you’ll find a patio area and outdoor furniture, so on sunny days you can dine alfresco. There is parking for one car at the property.
