Matt's tip

When we moved to Norfolk nearly 15 years ago our first venture to the coast, as a family, was to the beautiful Holkham Beach, and Estate. We were blown away by the sheer expanse and isolation that the beach offered. Since then it has become our go to destination as a family all year around, and equally stunning on a cold crisp January morning as a warm Summers day. Whilst Holkham has become more and more popular it is still possible to wander the beautiful wooded trails without seeing a soul! We love to head through the wooded path across the golden sandy beach and to the water’s edge. I love the feel of the cooling North Sea lapping over my feet on a warm early summers day. After our early morning walk we head up Lady Anne Drive to the majestic Holkham Hall, and head to the Courtyard Café for a warming coffee and the obligatory slice of cake! Holkham Hall sits amongst beautiful Woodland and has a herd of nearly 400 deer which wander freely through the park throughout the year. A truly stunning place to while away the hours, forget about your worries and spend quality time with your family, friends both two and four legged! Holkham offers so much for the whole family. We love hiring bikes for a morning to explore the estate further and next on our list is to take out one of the boats on the lake in the grounds. With a brilliant woodland play area to entertain the kids there really is something for all the family. Fancy visiting Holkham yourself? Take a look at our Holkham cottages here
