With museums, galleries and Robin Hoods Bay just 5 miles away, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to activities.

A picture perfect coastal town, Whitby also boasts being just minutes from the North York Moors National Park with its seemingly endless miles of heather moorland which can be explored on foot or astride two wheels following one of the many cycle routes. Whether you want to pull on your wellies or your flip flops, you really do get the best of both worlds.

But it's not all about seaside fun and walks amongst the heather; Whitby is also the birth place of Count Dracular. His creator, Bram Stoker, visited in the latter part of the 19th Century and is said to have taken much of the inspiration for his book from the town itself, in particular St Mary's Church and the Abbey. Now, hundreds flock here with costumes at the ready for the two annual Goth Festivals which is an experience like no other!
