Dog Friendly Cottages in Wales

When thinking of holiday in a self catering cottage with your dog, sometimes it can be hard to find what you're looking for. Well we have the solution.

Famed for its stunning countryside, beautiful beaches and soaring mountains, Wales is the perfect holiday destination for those who like to pull on their walking boots and head for an adventure.

If you’re dreading having to leave behind your beloved pooch, avoiding the puppy dog eyes as you pack your bags, then fear not! Plenty of our Welsh properties would love to have your dog come to stay too!

What to expect from a pet friendly cottage...

All of our properties are cleaned to the highest standard so we can assure you that you won't be able to tell the difference between a property that accepts pets and one that doesn’t. Wanting to bring your four legged friend with you won’t narrow your choice of property too much either! Almost half of our lovely cottages will welcome your dog with open arms.

Pooch welcoming Pubs…

After a fun packed day out exploring all that Wales has to offer, what could be better than popping into the pub for a relaxing drink and a bite to eat? You’ll be glad to know that plenty of pubs all over Wales will be happy for you to join them for a round with your hound! Y Talbot in Tregaron boasts a Head Chef who has trained with Marco Pierre White and worked at the Ritz, and will be happy for your dog to curl up on the floor beside the fire whilst you enjoy some of the culinary delights it has to offer. If you’re near Aberystwyth then be sure to swing by Tafarn Teifi where their resident dog Belle will welcome some canine company! We’re sure there will be plenty of lovely pubs along your way which would be happy to have you with your dog in tow.

Walks for Muddy Paws…

Wales is the perfect place to coax out the adventurer in you! You’ll undoubtedly be spoilt for choice when it comes to where you choose to explore, with 750 miles of beautiful coastline, Snowdonia National Park, The longest river walk in Britain - the Severn Way and endless acres of rolling hills and nature walks. And you’ll be pleased to hear that the dog restrictions for these walks are few and far between!

If you are eager to get some sand between your toes, a large majority of the beaches in Wales have no pet restrictions. In north Wales then a visit to Traeth Llydan in Anglesey will be sure to keep tails wagging! With sand dunes to tire out little legs and 1.5 miles of beautiful sandy beach to admire, a day out in the sea air comes highly recommended. In the south, take a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and come across the little gem that is Aber Mawr Bay beach where your canine companion will always be welcome. Lastly, if you’re somewhere in the middle then Aberystwyth has two fantastic beaches - North beach and South beach. These beaches do have dog restrictions between May - September as they are very popular, but with a good chance of seeing Dolphins from the bay, it's no wonder people love to visit!

Wherever you choose to wander in the great outdoors, dogs are normally more than welcome in Wales. As long as the pooches are popped on leads if you meet any livestock along your rambles then you will have one happy dog or two happy dogs…. Did we mention that some of properties are happy to take two dogs, some even three so don't hesitate to ask!
