Reviews

We had a lovely stay in Stepaside, comfortable beds and great views. However, the washing machine and oven need some minor repairs and the sofas upstairs we feel need replacing-they have clearly done many years service!

Ms J,

We had the most amazing Christmas there. Kitchen so well equipped and the kitchen/lounge the most amazing social space with a fantastic view and the sound of lapping water.

Mrs T,

We really enjoyed our stay at Stepaside Cottage. It had a cracking view over the water which we enjoyed from the courtyard. It was well equipped & secure. A little tricky to access the cottage to unpack due to the super narrow road, which made it a stressful arrival, but Caffa Mills car park is only a 5 minute walk away so easy to carry our things back to our parked car. The kitchen area was a very sociable space for us three couples, & we weren’t on top of one another. We were vety central so within very easy walking distance of pubs, restaurants & shops.

Mrs H,

Instructions for finding the property were poor. You need to show picture of front door or you miss it. Showing a picture of the back of the property is useless. The access and outside areas were dirty with rubbish and a dead seagull outside of gate, which had been there for some time. The front door wouldn’t open, the back gate fell off onto my daughter, the toilet seat slid to one side every time you sat on it, toilet roll holder broken, towel rail rusty, but apart from that it was lovely!

Rev Kim T,

Wonderful property in a great location. Real home from home.

Mr E,

Amazing waterfront property ideally located between the centre of town and only a couple of minutes walk to the car park. Cosy, yet spacious and a great garden to enjoy morning coffee and an evening beer - even in February!

Mr M,

A great house for families or even better a ladies break away! The beds and linen are really good and the house warms up well in the winter. The kitchen is a good size and well thought out, an all rooms have a view to the river. We have been back twice now and love it. The living room has massive sofa's and a wonderful window seat we all argue about using!

Mrs H,

Location

If you haven't yet discovered Fowey, you've got a treat in store.  Full of multicoloured cottages, perched on the hillsides leading down to the sea, this little fishing town has lots to tempt visitors.

There is an entrancing collection of unique local shops and boutiques, along with harbourside cafes, pubs which will give you a hearty welcome and a good atmosphere, and restaurants offering tempting local produce.  If you want a unique insight into the local species in these waters, you could visit Fowey Aquarium, whose residents include specimens brought in by local fishermen.

If you're a fan of Daphne du Maurier, you may want to visit the Literary Centre, which gives information and exhibits about the author and her life and work.  There is also the Fowey Festival of Words and Music, held in May, in which du Maurier, and many other authors, artists and musicians, are celebrated.  Another great spectacle is the Fowey Royal Regatta, held in August.

Fowey lies within one of the many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Cornwall, and the backdrop of the surrounding countryside, with its tidal creeks, rolling fields and rugged cliffs, will make you want to return here again and again.
