Things to Do in Morpeth

The town successfully combines old and new with some excellent shops and a great selection of independent restaurants, cafes and bars. Stroll around the cobbled streets with its 13th Century Chantry which is home to the Bagpipe Museum and the Northumbrian Arts and Crafts Gallery, packed to the brim with traditional and contemporary art. Pick up daily provisions at the popular farmers’ market in the marketplace (first Saturday of the month) and head to the award winning Carlisle Park for a picnic. The park has something for everyone with children’s play areas and a paddling pool open during the summer months, a bowling green, tennis courts and some lovely woodland footpaths to explore. Alternatively take to the water and hire a boat, paddle along the river and relax. Another popular spot for a family day out is the Whitehouse Farm Centre, just south of Morpeth off the A1, this is the perfect day for animal lovers. The farm is home to a whole host of animals including goats, rabbits, meerkats and marmosets. Children can help feed the animals and take  tractor rides, there’s even indoor car racing available!

Get out and about and explore Northumberland, the beautiful coastline is within easy reach which makes the Morpeth area the ideal location for a holiday.
