I moved to North Yorkshire nine years ago with my husband John and our daughter Susie, after I had been offered a job at Ingrid Flute’s Yorkshire Holiday Cottages, and now we absolutely love it here. We can hardly think of another place on earth that would suit us better! I have passion for properties (of course!), nature and books - especially English literature. My favourite pastime on a day off is driving around and exploring the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside or having a walk on one of its many beautiful sandy beaches as well as enjoying some of the wonderful tea rooms, pubs and restaurants this area has to offer. Not only do I love the surrounding countryside, but I also take great enjoyment from being able to visit and take advantage of all the beautiful towns and villages we have on the Yorkshire Coast and Moors. Some of my very favourite locations to visit are Scarborough South Bay with its famous landmarks such as the lighthouse and the Grand Hotel, the Spa Bridge leading to the elegant Victorian Spa complex and the South Cliff Gardens. In Whitby I’m especially fond of the Abbey, allegedly haunted by Dracula, also St. Mary’s Church, the 199 steps and the Swing Bridge. I love the unique and beautiful must-see historic city of York with its majestic Minster, the Old Town’s old city walls and quirky streets - especially The Shambles, The Old Market and York Museum. Amongst the many charming villages my personal favourites on the coast are Flamborough Head with its impressive lighthouse and the view over the picturesque Bempton Cliffs, Robin Hood’s Bay and the old fishing village of Staithes; as well as Egton Bridge, Rosedale Abbey and Levisham on the Moors. My favourite local places to eat and relax are The Horseshoe Hotel in Egton Bridge with its pretty beer garden and stepping stones across the beck, Headlands Family Restaurant & Cafe Bar at Flamborough Head, the Board Inn and the award-winning Royal Fisheries – Fusco’s Fish & Chips restaurant in Whitby, and last but not least the popular Boddy’s Cafe in Scarborough, where the quality and selection of cakes and desserts is outstanding.
