Things To Do in Devon

It’s no secret that you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to fun days out while in Devon. Starting with the coast, Devon is world-renowned for its amazing waves and watersports. Head to the North coast to try your dab hand at surfing, whether you’re a seasoned professional or a first-timer. There are plenty of surf schools in Devon for you to book a lesson within our cottage locations such as Woolacombe, Putsborough, Saunton Sands and Croyde.  But Devon doesn’t just offer surfing when it comes to getting in the water and there are plenty of opportunities to try paddleboarding, snorkelling and boating, particularly along the South coast where boats litter the shores of Salcombe and the water is buzzing with marine life.

If stepping back into the past is your thing, be sure to visit East Devon, where a stretch of the coastline joins up with Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. A particular highlight is the mighty Triassic Rock in Exmouth, the impressive red cliffs that were formed here over 200 million years ago. Another on land activity that might just take your fancy is a stroll along the South West Coastal Path. Our local team in Devon have been teamed up with the SWCP to help give back to an organisation that gives so much to the local area. The path runs for 630 miles, from Minehead on the edge of Exmoor to the shores of Poole Harbour and offers the ultimate challenge for the long-distance walker or anyone wanting a more leisurely ramble. It's described as one of the best walking routes in the world and well worth exploring when in Devon.

When you’re not out and about in the fresh air, or in need of some good grub, Devon has some of the best food and drink spots in England. From scrumptious pasties to Devonshire ice cream and the freshest crab, you and all your holiday guests will be fit to burst by the time you leave! There are also lots of unique things to do in Devon too, from visiting local works of art to luxury private beaches and fun walking trails. You can read about these and lots more local tips in our Devon Travel Guide, which is here to help you plan your perfect Devon holiday.
