External steep steps lead to the front door of this three-storey property, they pass through the porch before coming to a narrow hallway. The first bedroom, at the front of the house, is a light and airy double room with its own TV and a window seating looking out towards the harbour. The 2nd single bedroom is also on this floor. Returning to the hallway, the bathroom, at the end of the corridor has a deep roll-top bath, a separate walk-in shower and WC.

Stairs lead to the first floor, which is where the main living accommodation is situated, comprising of a kitchen/diner which opens onto the lounge. This is a relaxing and welcoming space, dominated by the harbour views and the exposed stone walls. There are two sofas here, as well as a cosy wood burner, and TV. The kitchen/diner at the top of the stairs offers a dining table seating six, an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine.

Further stairs lead to the second floor, where the second bedroom is located in the eaves of the house, and therefore has some reduced head height. This charming room has lovely wooden floors, exposed stone walls, wonderful harbour views, a king-size bed, and, like the other bedroom, its own TV. The en-suite shower room has a large walk-in shower and WC.

Outside the cottage, there is an enclosed seating area with outdoor sofas to the front of the property, a great place to relax with drinks and watch the activity on the harbour. To the rear of the property, there are steep steps leading to terraced seating areas, making it easy to find a spot to enjoy the sunshine, whatever the time of day.

The cottage also benefits from a dedicated numbered parking space on the quayside - very rare for Brixham.

Brixham is England's busiest fishing harbour, with a proud maritime history and makes a fantastic place for a holiday in South Devon. The harbour is the main focal point of the town, but in recent years it has also become known for its arts scene and there are several galleries and workshops which are lovely to spend an afternoon browsing. The restaurants, as visitors might expect, most specialise in the local seafood brought home by the fishermen, and there are plenty that are well-regarded, some offering stunning sea views. Beach-lovers won’t be disappointed, as the town boasts several beaches, from the main Breakwater Beach to the quiet and secluded St Mary’s Bay.

Please note:
Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep - this property is not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Reviews

Sandy Bottom is a lovely old cottage with an amazing view of the harbour from the panoramic lounge window. It's easy to while away the hours just watching the boats coming and going. It is very well equipped, a real home from home. Also it is well placed for access to Brixham town centre and all the shops and restaurants. The parking bay on the harbour just 5 minutes walk from the cottage was a real bonus. We would definitely stay here again.
