Description

Situated in a location steeped in history, ‘Zeppelin’ is a fascinating 2-bedroom cottage that is built on a site once devastated by the East Anglia air raids of 1915. Its memorable name owing to the German aircraft which conducted numerous attacks across Suffolk during the Great War. Over a century on, you will find this former bomb site has been stunningly transformed into an exceptional 2-bedroom home which offers space, sophistication, and style for your self-catering stay. Zeppelin is more than just a holiday bolthole, but a residential monument of true historical significance. Nestled in the historical riverside town of Woodbridge, Zeppelin has a great deal to offer on the doorstep. The popular Woodbridge high street, with its mix of cafes and shops, is just a stone’s throw away. The River Deben runs alongside Woodbridge and there are some scenic walks to be had along the banks.

Every little detail of this holiday cottage has been considered with the guest experience in mind. The accommodation consists of a stunning open-plan ground floor hosting a bespoke kitchen, a dedicated dining area perfect for sharing stories over a homecooked meal, and a cosy sitting area with plush seating for four – the perfect space for relaxing after exploring this fascinating part of Suffolk. An easy staircase then leads to a first floor consisting of two light and sumptuous bedrooms each with king size beds and generous storage space. The lavish bathroom completes the first floor and is fitted out with a 4 piece bathroom suite.

Location, Location, Location! Zeppelin’s ideal positioning is the real cherry on top. Situated within the quaint, historic market town of Woodbridge, you will have plenty to fill your stay with. Woodbridge thoroughfare is just a 5 minute stroll away and offers much to discover with plenty of interesting shops and cafes. Beyond the centre of the town are the banks of the river Deben, ever changing throughout the seasons and the perfect place for a scenic stroll, a picnic or to merely sketch the yachts as they rise and fall with the tide. Woodbridge itself also boasts the fantastic Riverside Theatre, where you can enjoy its charming cinema or a spot of lunch. The Tide Mill Museum offers a fascinating tour where you can learn about the history and working of the Tide Mill. Within just a 10 minute car journey, you can take a trip to the National Trust site of Sutton Hoo. With its fascinating past and the sites of two early medieval cemeteries, this archaeological site which uncovered the Anglo-Saxon Great Ship Burial is truly a must visit and it is now even the focus of the Netflix film, The Dig! Keen explorers and ornithologists should also plan in a visit to the RSPB Minsmere, approximately half an hours drive away, where you can enjoy idyllic walks, birdwatching and family activities. Other notable spots for a visit include Aldeburgh to enjoy the Suffolk Coast, Snape with riverside walks and the famous concert hall at Snape Maltings, and Orford as another location brimming with history.

So, for a holiday cottage that ticks all the boxes that we think you will want to book again and again, Zeppelin is ideal for your next Suffolk staycation.  Pub: 100 yards, Shop: 0.25 mile.

Its charm lies in the many narrow picturesque streets of fine houses and cottages, the river, the famous Tide Mill, the ancient buildings around the Market Hill and the fine Church. Woodbridge has an interesting shopping centre, with many specialist shops, good restaurants, and pubs, together with art galleries, antique shops, the town museum and an excellent cinema/theatre, large recreation areas and an indoor heated swimming pool. Woodbridge also benefits from being just a short drive from some fascinating historical locations such as the National Trust sites of Sutton Hoo and Orford Ness.

Reviews

Really well appointed cottage in a great location for exploring Woodbridge and beyond. We had a lovely week.

Mr B,

Lovely cottage right in the centre of Woodbridge. Great location for pubs, shops, restaurants and also easy access to the Sandlings walk along the estuary. Really enjoyed our stay.

Mrs C,

We stayed at Zeppelin for a week. This was our third trip to Woodbridge but our first stay at Zeppelin. We were very impressed with the cottage; it's very well located, was very comfortable and very warm and cosy. We would definitely recommend Zeppelin and we would absolutely stay here again. No complaints at all.

Mrs B,

We had a lovely stay at Zeppelin over the Christmas holiday. The cottage was clean, cosy but spacious and very nicely decorated. There were lots of little touches that made it really homely. Loved the old photos on the wall and the history of the cottage. The location was perfect and we would definitely like to stay again.

Mrs Y,

Lovely comfortable cottage in excellent location in central Woodbridge. Cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and very well equipped.

Ms L,

We found “Zeppelin” to be a very stylish, comfortable and well equipped property situated in a perfect location for exploring beautiful Woodbridge with all attractions a short walk away. We hope to be back soon!

Mrs T,

We always felt comfortable during our stay in the house "Zeppelin". The house is well located, quiet and there was always a free parking space nearby. Comfort and quality are good and the value for money is right.

Mr W,

This is a delightful, beautifully appointed property, in a great, very convenient location, with pubs, shops and eateries conveniently near but far enough away for it to be quiet. Parking was not a problem, with unloading and loading possible on a double yellow line outside and free parking in a range of roads near by. Would very happily stay here again and definitely recommend it to others. The tech features such as the TV and electric blinds are a little challenging for those of us of a certain age, but we managed.

Mr B,

Zeplin is a great house in a fantastic location.

Mr Neil G,

Smashing stay, really comfortable, very quiet but central, lovely cottage…thank you!
