Description

This cottage has a secluded location on the edge of a wooded valley and within the North York Moors National Park.  The moorland village of Hutton-le-Hole is within easy walking distance and footpaths and bridleways extend from the property to the neighbouring villages of Appleton-le-Moors and Gillamoor and the market town of Kirkbymoorside.  A great location for walkers and cyclists, the owners live next door and are happy to advise on the best places to visit and provide maps The Yorkshire Coast, York and the Yorkshire Wolds are within easy reach for a day out.

The cottage is a converted barn and retains a great deal of its old character and charm with exposed beams and feature stonework.  Tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished, the property is very well equipped.  Ideal for families and groups of friends, there is a double and two single bedrooms.  Outside there is a patio with large picnic table and a private garden - both overlook the surrounding woodland where the bird song from over 15 species of birds including buzzards, woodpeckers, flycatchers and owls can be enjoyed.  A secure barn with cycle racks and a free entry pass to Dalby Forest are available.

Reviews

Perfect cottage with owls hooting at night. What’s not to like. Owners very warm and welcoming cottage perfect will definitely return

Mr T,

Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable owners who live on site.and are easily contacted. A road is close by that is not overly busy and cannot be heard from inside the property, other than that the property is located in a peaceful country side location a short distance from the National park. The cottage is well equipped and looks like its been recently updated, important points for us are comfortable beds, hot shower, cleanliness and being able to have a good night's sleep without disturbance, this cottage ticked all of those boxes and was quirky into the bargain! The rooms are laid out over three floors with two bedrooms on the top floor and the third on the ground floor along with the kitchen and shower room and comfortable lounge on the second floor, short staircases divide the floors. Because of its rural location transport is essential but we found it a great location for exploring the Yorkshire coast,York,Thirsk and the National park without too much driving. Would definitely recommend and book again.

Mr C,

Welcoming and thoroughly helpful owners. A well maintained and clean, pretty cottage. Would thoroughly recommend a stay!

Mr D,

Lovely cottage, lovely people, easy to book.

Mrs Anne-Marie W,

Daft things really - a green scrubby would have helped with the washing up (all other equipment fabulous), and the location PDF mentions a vets ("opposite the vets") : this is now closed, and we went sailing past the wee turning.
