History
Wolborough House was built by wealthy local Charles Hellier in 1910. Original features include decorative plaster work, high ceilings, solid oak panelling and large period windows. The mansion strikes an enviable balance between contemporary living and period charm.

Grounds
The property is reached by a private road, where beyond the stone gateway lie pristine landscaped grounds. Sea-view lawns, verandahs and mature trees frame Brixham Harbour below.

Lower ground floor
The purpose-built 'fun floor' boasts its own bar, darts board, table tennis, a playroom for children complete with a chalkboard wall, a well-equipped gym and an indoor heated swimming pool. Also equipped with a double walk in shower.

The spacious eighth bedroom is situated on this floor, with a large double ended shower & toilet next door together with a large sauna.

The lower ground floor apartment is the private dwelling of the helpful House Keepers who have full knowledge of the house and its features, should you need help during your self-catering stay.

Ground floor
The splendid entrance hall boasts hunting lodge decor, showcasing a stag's head among other antiques. The chandelier-lit oak staircase frames an iridescent stained-glass window.

Bright and generously-proportioned rooms destine Wolborough to entertain. The principal drawing room boasts plush seating and a plasma television with Sky TV and a DVD player, whilst Wi-Fi access is also available. The room has 180 degrees sea views over Brixham Breakwater.

The grand oak-panelled dining room holds a 16-place table complete with soft leather chairs, and a stunning original stone hearth.

A fully-fitted country kitchen characterises luxury self-catering, with a range electric cooker with gas hob, Nepresso coffee machine and breakfast table. There's even a separate preparation area should you wish to indulge in hired help. The room's sunny aspect graces the Devon coast and is complemented by an al-fresco dining area complete with a brick BBQ, roof shelter and lustrous grounds.

Just off the entrance hall, a full size snooker room with sea views solves rainy afternoons.
The ground floor also boats a cloakroom toilet.

First floor
The bright gallery landing houses two corridors of sleeping accommodation in the form of 1 kingsize bedroom ensuite, 5 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms (one of which has zip and link beds that can be adapted to a super-king bed, 1 luxury master en-suite shower with twin sinks and 2 principal family bathrooms each fitted with an Edwardian style bathtub, shower and one with a shower and bathtub.

All rooms are comfortably furnished, all with wardrobes and a hair dryer in each plus 6 bedrooms have sea views, one with garden terrace views and just the lower ground with no views.

The generously proportioned master bedroom features high ceilings mounted with a chandelier and decorative plasterwork, along with panelled walls and a fireplace. The room is flourished by a French-style wooden bed, walk in wardrobe and lavish en-suite. All bedrooms but the fourth twin feature fireplaces, from ornate marble mantles to rustic cast iron hearths. The third bedroom boasts a pretty garden-facing balcony.

Reviews

A truly special property, the views are simply stunning and the house is beautiful. We all had a fantastic time making memories to last a lifetime. Thanks to the owner and the housekeeping team, we'll never forget our stay.

Mrs C,

The house and location was just beautiful. Steve was very helpful too. Will definitely be back :)

Mrs J,

Amazing property, it has plenty to entertain the whole family. Our group ranged from 3 months to 61 years and each one of us had favourite things about the property; sitting in the window watching the harbour, walking down to the beach, swimming in the pool and the sea, going for a run up to Berry Head. So many things to do we didn't have time to do them all, we'll just have to come back again.

mrs R,

What a fantastic stay. So convenient for the Town. Our 8 grandchildren loved it and The Owner was a excellent host. It has to be one of the best places we have stayed for a family holiday. 10 out of 10

Mrs G,

Amazing place, so comfortable plenty of space. We were a party of 14 ranging in ages, we had so much fun. Steve was amazing too. Absolutely everything was thought of. Location was fantastic, easy walking distance. The bay windows kept us oldies amused for hours even at night watching the trawlers etc. We as a group will definitely be back and couldn’t recommend enough.
