Description

A welcoming and comfortable home, nestled in unspoilt countryside not far from the Suffolk Coast, Willow Farm is found in the peaceful village of Eastbridge which neighbours the RSPB Misnmere nature reserve. This two-storey period property boasts a gorgeous rural setting in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and yet still has many amenities accessible on foot; a pub, Dunwich beach, the heaths and the RSPB Minsmere Visitor Centre with café are all found within 1.5 miles. Right from the doorstep there are countless paths and trails to be explored. If you’d like to peruse museums, shops and markets, listen to live music and feast on fine fish and chips, you can take a 6-mile drive to the seaside town of Aldeburgh — you’ll also find a golf course and the beach of Thorpeness en route. Or pay a visit to the fantastic ruins of Leiston Abbey, 2 miles away, or travel a little further inland to the 12th-century fortress of Framlingham Castle, 13 miles distant. There are an abundance of fantastic seaside villages, towns, and beaches all within an easy drive or cycle away.

Packed with rustic charm and period features, this cottage is a truly welcoming retreat. The lounge and dining room both have exposed timber ceiling beams and antique furniture. The lounge also has plush sofas and a delightful wood burner set in a brick fireplace. A choice of seating areas in the dining room gives the option of socialising at the farmhouse dining table or catching up with some work at the desk. The bright and spacious kitchen and utility room are accessed via a farmhouse door from the dining room. A shower room completes the ground floor. Heading upstairs, three light and contemporary bedrooms await. The Master double and the twin are set under the eaves and the beds sit under exposed beams. The third bedroom, a second double, provides comfortable accommodation and captures the morning sunshine on fine days. The first floor is complete with bathroom offering the choice of a relaxing bath or an invigorating shower.

The fully enclosed gardens are found to the front and side of the property, enclosed with hedging and fencing. An area is laid to gravel, with a bistro set for two, whilst the majority of the garden is laid to lawn with plenty of space to enjoy. The garden boasts the unusual features of a well (covered for safety) and an old smokehouse. Garden furniture is provided and a BBQ for those warmer days or evenings.

Trains can be found six miles away at Darsham and buses two miles away at Leiston.

Reviews

Great and spacious house, so clean and cosy and in a wonderful location. Walked so much from the house and around RSPB Minsmere our week, despite the very rainy weather. There is a pub a 2 min walk from the house. But we mostly cooked and had every utensil that we needed. Safe to say, it was hard to leave and we could happily live there!

Ms C,

Beautiful cottage just outside the Minsmere RSPB reserve. Warm and cosy.

Mr P,

Willow Farm is absolutely beautiful, a wonderful setting close to RSPB Minsmere nature reserve, with everything you could wish for and more. The welcome pack was exceptional. Wonderful pub food on your doorstep at the Eel’s Foot inn. Highly recommend. It was very hard to leave.

Mrs D,

Willow Farm is located in a very peaceful location 5 minutes walk to the local pub and walks from the front door. It’s a comfortable cottage. When we arrived we were surprised to find a wonderful welcome pack this was much appreciated and unexpected. Thank you.

Mr C,

Willow Farm was in a lovely peaceful location, convenient for Minsmere, the beach and a very friendly pub. The house was clean and comfortable, with a good sized enclosed garden for the dog. Lots of walks from the doorstep. This is a beautiful part of Suffolk and we will definitely be back to stay at Willow Farm.

Miss K,

The property is perfectly situated for easy exploring of Suffolk.. lovely walks nearby without using car.. the Eels Foot pub very friendly and just down the road.. Lovely garden to relax in and very dog friendly

Mrs J,

On the whole, it was a gorgeous property. Lovely house and garden in a wonderful location. The decor is wonderful. There were a few really major issues however. (1) Fungus growing in a damp patch on the wall in one of the twin bedrooms, where my children slept - unsightly and a health hazard. (2) Beds - the single beds in the room nearest the bathroom were very hard and lumpy, and uncomfortable to sleep on. Also, the double bed did not have a mattress protector on it, only a top sheet. A mattress protector or undersheet is absolutely essential and I just couldn’t believe there wasn’t one there. (3) The Fridge door was misaligned and required a lot of force to open and close. It was almost too much for my elderly mother in law to manage it. The door handle is loose - if it falls off, it will be almost impossible to open and close the fridge which will really spoil a holiday. (4) A new loo brush is needed upstairs as the current one leaks. It really was a nice place to stay and in many ways Willow Cottage is absolutely stunning but unfortunately the issues mentioned above have a really negative impact on the place. Were the above issuers corrected, I would definitely return.

Mrs Clare G,

I love the location - great walks from the door along Minsmere sluice and walkable to the Minsmere reserve. The garden is large and not overlooked. The house is warm, characterful and cosy. I particularly appreciated the woodburner (all set up with wood for our arrival), having 2 bathrooms and the goody package (especially the chocolate!) left for us: crisps, chocolate, milk, coffee, tea, sugar, apple juice.

Ms F,

Lovely country cottage to spend Christmas in
