Description
Hen Ysgol is a Grade II listed former school house, built in 1816, and renovated to a superb standard by the present owners. This historic property is right in the heart of Beaumaris, just a stroll away from the shops and coast, moated castle and historic Gaol. There are breathtaking views from the town across the Menai Straits to the stunning mountains of Snowdonia, and some of the best beaches of Anglesey are just a short drive away.
The Cottage: is beautifully looked after by the owners and has a large sunny rear garden and sun room where you can enjoy sunbathing or barbecuing within this private enclosed area. The semi-detached house is all on one level but with stone steps up from the road.
Lounge: quality furnishings including comfortable leather sofas, a Smart TV/DVD and WiFi, a modern real flame gas fire, an impressive antique Welsh dresser decorated with beautiful, contemporary Portmeirion pottery and prints by a local artist on the walls.
Kitchen Diner: has smart cream fitted units and is well equipped with built in appliances including an electric oven and microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer, as well as a dining table and chairs. A door leads to the sun room and rear garden.
Leading from the entrance hallway is a cloakroom with WC and basin.
There are two bedrooms, both stylishly furnished and with good quality beds with Hypnos mattresses.
Bedroom 1: is light and airy, with a king size bed and built in wardrobes and storage. Views across to the pretty church.
Bedroom 2: has twin beds and a wall mounted flat screen TV. Views out over the rear courtyard garden.
Bathroom: a spacious, modern room with bath, large shower cubicle, WC and basin.
Outside: there is a small lawned area to the front. To the rear is a large courtyard garden leading from a small, contemporary sun room which has large indoor/outdoor bean bags for relaxing on. This area is partly paved and has garden furniture and a barbecue, a great enclosed spot to lounge and enjoy the sun. Bike storage is available. There is space for off-loading just on the street outside the property, then parking at the local car park nearby. (A one-week vistors' pass can be purchased; contact us for details.)
Beaumaris is a very popular little town in a stunning position. There is a lot to explore here; as well as the historic attractions, there are many good independent shops, cafes and quality restaurants and pubs. If you can tear yourself away, just down the road is Penmon Priory and Dovecote with a little toll road leading to Penmon Point, right opposite Puffin Island and its picturesque lighthouse. The nearby historic Plas Cadnant Gardens are stunning. Boat trips and rib rides can be taken to explore the coastline and its wildlife. Further again in either direction along the coast are popular sandy beaches such as Red Wharf Bay and Newborough Warren. The Snowdonia National Park is around 15 miles away for stunning scenery, mountain walking, biking and other adventure activities.
