Description

This Grade I listed, C16th Gatehouse stands within the ancient courtyard and magnificent knot garden of Gwydir Castle which is also renowned for its peacocks and mystical history.  A magical and unusual place to stay for two people, with plenty of character and a cosy woodburning stove. The Gatehouse is located within Eryri - the Snowdonia National Park, just outside historic market town of Llanrwst and only 4 miles from Betws-y-Coed, ‘the Gateway to Snowdonia’.

The Cottage: although small is full of character with thick stone walls, the original leaded windows and ancient front door.  The heating is by electric heaters, woodburning stove and underfloor heating.

Living Room: has a two seater sofa, wood burner with initial logs provided, Smart TV/DVD and WiFi. There is also a small wooden table and chairs.

Kitchen:  the compact kitchen has a two ring hob, small oven, microwave and mini fridge.

Bedroom:  has a double bed and beautiful   leaded windows looking out across the castle and gardens.

Bathroom: the modern tiled bathroom has a shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail, Underfloor heating.

Gwydir Castle (open to the public and occasionally used for weddings) is noted for its extensive and stunning gardens and its peacocks. A complimentary visit to the Castle is also included in the price of the stay. The Gatehouse is well-placed within the Snowdonia National Park for outdoor enthusiasts and country lovers.
