Description

Situated in the popular village of Sleights near Whitby, Honeypot House is a beautiful period property with an attractive garden to the front, where you can sit and watch the steam trains go by. This large and stylish Victorian house, set over three floors, has a spacious kitchen and dining room, a separate living room, four really good-sized bedrooms and three bathrooms. There are some lovely panoramic views over the village and surrounding hills to be enjoyed from the upper floors. The house has been refurbished and furnished with loving care and offers all modern comforts, yet retains a lot of character and period features such as cast-iron tiled fireplaces and wooden beams.

The property is ideal for families, especially family reunions, and train enthusiasts, and it is pet friendly. Honeypot House is located close to the centre of the village and its shops. It is also near the small and charming village railway station located on the picturesque Esk Valley line where, in addition to passing steam train running between Whitby and Pickering, guests can board local services to access other beautiful villages and walking country across the North York Moors.

Sleights has an award-winning butcher, local bakery, a popular fish & chip shop, grocery store and a vibrant local pub. It is only three miles to Whitby with its sandy beach, the famous Abbey, St Mary’s Church, pretty Pannett Park, Swing Bridge and many attractive and sometimes quirky and unique tearooms, bistros, boutique shops and award-winning seafood restaurants.

Reviews

Lovely spacious, well equipped and maintained house in an excellent location. Perfect for our large family group.

Mr C,

Lovely house in a fab location near the train station wheee you can get a train into Whitby

Mr D,

A lovely location and comfortable property. Big enough to accommodate grandparents, two 6 year olds and three other adults very comfortably.

Mrs C,

We spent a lovely week at Honeypot House. Our group covered three generations and 2 dogs (teens through to grandparents) and we all said we would love to return. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, and plenty of room for us to dine and spend time together. Very well located for walks and the local pub.

Mr D,

Very good location easy to access surrounding area arrived on a Saturday bins not emtied untill Tuesday but were left full by previous guests so we had to leave full bins for the next guests

Mr A,

A great place for us all to get together. So well stocked. Even the weather was better than expected.

Past Customer,

Fantastic location for a birthday celebration. A wonderful weekend with amazing friends. Fabulous accommodation.

Past Customer,

Return visit same time as last year. Another great stay. Fab location. Everything you need in the house. Lovely to watch the trains and so easy to get into Whitby. All we needed was there.

Past Customer,

Very enjoyable stay. Would recommend Sneaton Castle for a good meal out and the local fish & chip shop is excellent.

Past Customer,

A smashing location and beautiful house. Homely and comfortable. Seeing the steam train daily has been a delight. Thank you for a smashing time Honeypot Cottage.

Past Customer,

We had a good holiday in Honeypot House, plenty of space and having 3 bathrooms was great. Could do with a bit of an update.

Mrs Lisa M,

2nd visit to Honey Pot. Lovely setting, beautiful home, all you need.

Mrs Stephanie M,

Very happy with property and with booking arrangements and information.

Mr Paul S,

We had an issue with a shower overflowing during use, due to a huge blockage of hair/soap (which we removed). It was otherwise a lovely, spacious, comfortable and warm house. Perfect for two families. We could have done with some oven gloves and a glove for the log burner. Otherwise an excellent property.

Mrs Elizabeth S,

What a beautiful house. A well earned family holiday in a beautiful surrounding. An amazing holiday home perfectly equipped for a family. The children loved watching the trains passing each day. A great location and friendly neighbours. Thank you.

Past Customer,

Another wonderful stay. Third year running and always perfect - everything thought of.

Past Customer,

Another lovely holiday in this welcoming and comfortable house. Lovely welcome pack thank you. Visited Danby National Park Centre, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend and Goathland. Lots of lovely coastal walks. Can't wait to return next year. Thanks.

Past Customer,

A lovely house - well equipped. Fantastic location with plenty to do for all ages. Definitely be back again. Thanks for the hospitality.

Past Customer,

Location was excellent and the property was lovely. The house was clean and tidy and we would stay again.

Mrs Helen R,

Delightful, well equipped house, in an ideal location to access the beautiful coast. Perfect for our large family get together.

Mr Richard C,

The cottage worked well for our 2 families. The main issue related to the beds not being made up as requested, despite being asked by Original Cottages what bed configuration was required. I had to make 2 phone calls to resolve this as the first call only resulted in 50% of the required bedding and no service to physically change the bed layouts or makeup the beds. The second call did eventually result in an individual coming to the cottage and changing the beds to the requested configuration.

Mr Andy R,

Would have given higher rating for equipment but some of the kitchen utensils were very poor , e.g. kitchen knives limited and cheap and blunt, frying pans were unusable , and in need of replacement. Wi fi did not work for half our stay, TV was too small for the standard and size of the property and had limited choice of channels. When paying top end prices I would expect everything to be top quality. On the plus side, it was very clean and comfortable and warm and spacious and beautifully presented. One other issue was the poor contact centre . Waited 30 minutes for phone to be answered when raising issue with WiFi.

Mr Martin B,
