Description

Ewelands Retreat is a stylish holiday home, cleverly designed to offer all the comforts of home within an open plan space. Perfect for a cosy break, the cottage has views over the Esk Valley where you can watch the steam trains from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway wind their way through the Esk Valley on their way to and from Whitby.

The studio apartment is decorated in Farrow & Ball colours, providing an elegant backdrop to the local artwork. There is a well equipped kitchen with cream units and granite worktops. If you haven't made it to the shops, the Yorkshire goodie packed hamper will keep you going. You have a great choice of places to eat from the breakfast bar with contemporary leather seats to the separate dining table, to the table and chairs in the garden with those wonderful views.  The sitting area has a large sofa and a squishy leather armchair, with patio doors to the garden making this a light filled space. A log burner within an attractive stone and wood surround will keep the chill away on colder nights. A large Smart TV with Netflix and a DVD player, Bluetooth speaker and an Apple iPad is provided for your entertainment needs. The enclosed garden, with furniture and a BBQ provides lovely outdoor space, perfect if you're bringing your four legged friends. The bedroom area has a wrought iron, pocket sprung bed with luxurious bed linens and throws. The bathroom includes a large bath and separate shower enclosure with rainfall shower.  Complimentary Elemis toiletries are provided.

Sleights is an excellent location for a Yorkshire holiday, within the North York Moors National Park and close to Whitby and the heritage coastline. The cottage is situated away from the main road on a quiet lane leading to Grosmont (2.5 miles), a typical Moors village and the location of the engine sheds for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. In Sleights you will find a small supermarket, a Bothams bakery, delicatessen, butchers, fish restaurant and a couple of pubs which serve food. Whitby, is just four miles away, with its numerous attractions, cobbled old town filled with local shops, and a superb range of restaurants and tea rooms.

Ewelands Retreat has a connecting door to Ewelands House (WA102), a beautiful cottage above Ewelands Retreat sleeping six people. You can book these properties together.

Reviews

Undoubtedly a beautiful location, the view from the sofa was outstanding . Beautiful and fully equipped cottage . Any critism would be that it was over stocked, for instance the bread maker took a large amount of kitchen space ! I would agree though that the smell of fresh bread on arrival is a plus . Lots of extras included . A tiny cottage, for 2 adults and we only had one small dog although 2 were allowed . Everything was of superb quality , bedding towels etc . Prior to arrival I felt slightly bombarded with messages about not arriving before 5pm . And almost as though we were being watched . We parked up at 4.45 and took the dog for a walk before going into Ewelands . It was quite an uncomfortable start . We also left the day before our due date because of the 9.30 leaving time, again feeling the pressure . Having said that we had a lovely holiday with every comfort provided .
