Description

This beautiful timber framed Shepherd’s Hut stands on its own in a glorious south facing meadow in the quiet countryside above the charming fishing village of Staithes. The hut is truly a year round destination, equally beautiful and cosy in January as in the Summer months. Why not lie-in in style; through the large glazed screen you can enjoy a panoramic view over the woods, fields and valley from your king-size bed. Sitting on your private terrace, the views down to Staithes and the sea are superb. The Shepherds Hut is fully insulated and there is a small electric heater for cooler evenings. WiFi is available free of charge. Outside there is a small lockable shed providing storage for boots, coats etc, and a kettle barbecue is provided.

There is a shared games room which includes a 3/4 size snooker table, table tennis, table football and many books, board games and DVDs. The owners can provide special event dinners in the house along with guided walks in the area. Tai Chi lessons and personal tuition available.

This haven of peace can also be hired as an “add on” for Acorn Cottage (WA040) and Catkin Cottage (WA041) as perfect quirky accommodation for another couple. As both these cottages have comfortable lounge seating and a table and chairs for four guests, you can sit, relax and dine together in the comfort of a cottage. Later, why not stroll up to the Shepherds Hut to enjoy the stunning views from the terrace, perhaps over a glass of wine. Other accommodation at this delightful location includes Oak Cottage (WA042) and Willow Cottage (WA043) which both sleep six guests.

Location

Staithes
Staithes is a pretty, traditional fishing village with bundles of charm located 10 miles north of Whitby and offers an idyllic location for holidaymakers visiting the seaside. The village boasts some of the narrowest cobbled streets in the north and is connected with ginnels, nooks and winding streets. There is plenty to see and do with pubs, cafes, shops, art galleries and a fish smokehouse. The village hosts real ale and jazz festivals during the year and the September Arts Festival is becoming a very popular event which attracts many visitors. For those fancying taking to the waters there are regular boat trips to Whitby from Staithes. There are many walks around the area along the cliff tops and through to Whitby, it is an ideal location for any holidaymaker.

For more information on Staithes and the surrounding area and local events see our Yorkshire Coast Guide and the Festivals & Events Guide.
