Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town.

Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town , and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

Reviews

I had the most delightful stay at this charming three-bedroom cottage in Whitby. First and foremost, the location is amazing. The balcony provides stunning panoramic views of Whitby Harbour – from the sea and both piers on the left, all the way around past the Abbey, to the bustling town on the right. The location of the cottage allows for easy exploration of Whitby, as it's within walking distance of most attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed strolling through the town and its enchanting back alleys. I'm always stumbling upon new and intriguing places I haven't seen before. Inside, the cottage is cosy, well-equipped and heated well, ensuring a comfortable stay. The charm of this place is amplified by its original features, giving it a unique character. Now, I must mention the quaint challenge of navigating steep stairs and steps around the cottage – a testament to its historical roots. It may be challenging for some. However, for me, it only added to the overall charm, reminiscent of the authentic feel of old cottages and it's what to expect in old buildings. Parking, though not directly outside due to the narrow one-way street, is conveniently solved with the provided permit for nearby parking. A small inconvenience easily overshadowed by the location and amazing views! Thank you for providing such a wonderful retreat.

Mr P,

We have had multiple friends ask about our holiday from the photos we have taken, of the apartment and the beautiful balcony, many of them want to come and stay!!! In this apartment.

Mrs W,

Stunning panoramic view from the balcony. Plenty of spaces for people to sit - balcony, sitting room or downstairs in the dining room. We never felt on top of each other and always had a view!

Mrs S,

This is our favourite Whitby cottage and we've stayed in a few! After four visits we are still amazed by the views from the balcony where subject to seagull activity one can relax and have a meal, drinks or simply bask in the sun. In the event of bad weather - we've been lucky on recent visits - then there's a huge solid dining table for large jigsaws or one can take advantage of the new TV which has excellent reception and a good DVD player. It's well appointed and we've always been able to find anything we need.

Mr S,

I put a 3 for cleanliness as the lounge area was grubby and the top bathroom was grubby too cleaners were taedy in this regard. Found the instructions a bit draconian as to orders about emptying all wastebins and filling the dishwasher and removing all bedding off beds at the end of our weeks stay, i rather think that would be cleaners job not ours . Having said that a Perfect view from balcony, good value for money.,

Mr Paul C,

The sofa’s in the living room need replacing the arm has gone on one, the cushions have definitely had their day & they needed to be pulled out and cleaned underneath. Also I think they need firmer mattresses on the beds. It’s a beautiful cottage, the view & balcony are definitely what you rent this cottage for. People need to be aware the stairs are extremely steep
