Description

Sirmonds Cottage is a beautiful detached property in a secluded courtyard tucked away on historic Cliff Street- a really great location to access the beach, shops, restaurants and all that Whitby has to offer. To the front of the house a short meander down the cobbled pathway of Pier Lane brings you to the harbourside. A short walk down Cliff Street leads you to the bustling shopping street of Flowergate, whilst the top of Cliff Street brings you to West Cliff with its iconic whale bones.

Rare for the centre of Whitby, Sirmonds Cottage boasts a lovely spacious outdoor decked area, with brick built barbecue and shaded table and benches, secluded from the road so is a quiet and peaceful sun trap to enjoy al fresco dining or bask in the sun on the deck chairs.

Sirmonds Cottage is a bright contemporary seaside inspired space with local art works dotted about the place that gives it a truly unique yet homely feel.

The comfortable lounge is open plan to the well equipped kitchen and is a lovely place to relax together after a busy day out and about.

Sleeping arrangements are versatile at Sirmonds Cottage as the property benefits from a downstairs double bedroom and adjacent cloakroom with w/c and wash basin. To the first floor the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom is a characterful room with glorious views to the East side- the sea, the 199 steps and Whitby Abbey. The lovely single bedroom also boasts similar views and is equally welcoming.

If you are looking for a secluded yet centrally located property with great views, quality fixtures and fittings and a sunny outdoor space then Sirmonds Cottage is a great choice to accommodate up to 4 people, you can even bring your four legged friend!

Reviews

The cottage is in a great location, a short stroll from the highlights of Whitby. Whilst I was there at the wrong time of year to enjoy the outside space, I’m sure it would be lovely in warmer weather. Being a modern cottage, it’s nice to have the luxury of an extra bathroom and cloakroom. I hope to visit again.

Mrs H,

Firstly, the website was well designed and it took about two minutes from decision to booking confirmed. Secondly, the property was excellent, clean, well looked after and as good as the promotional pictures if not better. Finally, the little messages sent by the team were very useful and just the right side of bothersome - well done for pitching that right. Thanks to all.

Mr Andrew G,

The Cottage is located in the heart of Whitby, being an excellent location to explore the Town and undertake walks on the Beach to Sandsend and the Abbey. The Cottage itself is perfect and provides ample space for four adults. It has all the mod cons and amenities you require. The only negatives I have are as follows: Albeit directions are provided, it is still not particularly easy to find. When pulling up outside in a car, other Cottages are marked, but Sirmonds even when walking through the passage. The Property details are not very clear with regards to the winding climb upto the garden. We took my elderly parents, who remain mobile, but if they had of been on there own would have struggled with the climb with their cases or shopping. To the rear of number 4, the drain is blocked and overflows generating a sewage smell. When walking up to Sirmonds you need to walk through this water. It is not a problem being caused by Sirmonds, just an adjoining holiday let, which needs addressing. What I would say, these are minor points and I would recommend this cottage. Allan

Mr Allan C,

Clean and comfortable property in a good location. Very well equipped. The only problem was actually finding it. It is completely hidden behind a row of other properties and there is no signage from the road where it is. Fortunately sound local told us that it was through a gates entry and up several flights of steps.

mr Douglas B,

The property was exactly as described!

Mrs Michelle M,

We have booked before and are always completely satisfied
