Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town, and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

Reviews

Very comfortable, centrally located house. Easy to get to all the attractions, shops, restaurants, abbey, museums on foot. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Whitby.

Mr S,

Lovely, comfortable cottage in the perfect location. The cottage is very well equipped and having a parking space is a real bonus. Although in the main tourist area it wasn’t too noisy, apart from the occasional accompaniment from the sea shanty man! We had a fabulous stay and we will definitely return in the future.

Mrs R,

Chapel Gate Cottage is in the perfect location right in the middle of the old town and with onsite parking which is very rare, standard of accommodation is first class we will be back.

Mr B,

We love this cottage, and use it every year. Good central location, parking for 1 car. Well maintained property with private garden area. Although central, it is very quiet in the evening.

Mrs Margaret H,

The cottage was beautiful and in a perfect location. Couldn't have been in a better location. Will definitely return. There is do much to see in Whitby .

Mrs E,

This is a real home from home cottage, very comfortable and clean, close to all amenities and attractions, my favourite place to stay in Whitby.

Mrs P,

Brilliant holiday cottage, everything about the cottage was perfect we couldn't complain about anything so comfortable and one of the best cottages we have stayed in, and will definitely be back.

Mrs B,

Lovely cottage. Parking and right in the middle of everything. Cosy and homely. Didn't want to leave!
