Description

Tucked away in a peaceful lane in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, the ‘Chicken Shed’ is a welcome antidote to the strains and stresses of urban life.  Newly constructed on the site of a former chicken shed, this single storey building offers modern, and comfortable accommodation for up to 4 looking to explore, or simply relax in, this delightful area of East Anglia. Centrally located within 8 miles of the historic market town of Diss, it offers easy access to the Suffolk coast (Aldeburgh is 40 minutes drive), the wonderful cathedral cities of  Norwich and Bury St Edmunds (both 35 minutes) and Newmarket, ‘Headquarters’ of Horseracing and its world famous racecourses (45 minutes). Bressingham Steam Museum, with its miniature steam trains, is within 30 minutes drive, as is Banham Zoo, and Framlingham, with its imposing castle is less than 20 minutes.

The Chicken Shed has a wonderful open plan living area with glorious high ceilings; windows and French doors flood the space with natural light, whilst antique furniture makes this space inviting and utterly charming. The two bedrooms are of good size, with a family size wet room and separate shower and loo in the utility room, serving the second bedroom.

Opening onto a two acre meadow which is an ideal recreational area for dogs or children, the Chicken Shed is situated some thirty metres from the owners’ farmhouse, and has a private entrance and driveway. Keen walkers and nature enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the nearby bridle path, leading through to Bedingfield, or the lane that leads to the village of Occold; why not treat yourself to a refreshing pint of Suffolk ale in the Beaconsfield Arms after a gentle walk of less than a mile! A bit further afield is the Swan at Hoxne, a wonderful old coaching inn, or the Victoria at Earl Soham, which serves local Earl Soham Brewery beers. For wedding guests, the Chicken Shed is just a short drive from The Oaksmere (12 minutes), Yaxley Hall (13 minutes), Kenton Hall Estate (14 minutes) and Crows Hall (19 minutes).

For a restful stay in peaceful surroundings, or as a base for exploring this unspoilt part of rural East Anglia, the Chicken Shed will be just what the doctor ordered! Nearest Pub: 0.9 miles, Shops: 3.1 miles.

Reviews

We had an enjoyable stay at the Chicken Shed. It is very comfortable and spacious with an excellent open plan area of a well fitted kitchen & dining area with a light and bright living room. The shower was excellent and the utility room large and well equipped for a holiday cottage. The owners were very friendly and hospitable. They left us a nice welcome pack. There are many places to walk around the area and other villages to visit nearby.

Miss P,

Location of this property is definitely "off track" being very rural and quiet. Lovely cottage, comfortable and well equipped. Very friendly and supportive owners. You are within easy striking distance of all coastal destinations also lots of lovely small villages and towns to explore.

Mr K,

We’ve been 4 times now. You can relax enjoy the local area so easily. No neighbours, just the owners who are lovely. Booking next year soon.

Mr L,

Perfect property for 2 couples and hosts very friendly. Very rural site that suited us perfectly. Parking for two cars but some undergrowth needed trimming back and the provision of even a cheap charcoal BBQ would have been really useful as weather was perfect. Property was excellent in presentation and would recommend to anybody wanting a rural peaceful retreat in a lovely part of the country with coastal and inland attractions within an hour's drive.

Mr David B,

The property was spotless, and exactly as expected. Owners welcomed us anx ensured we had everything we needed. A welcome gift for us and our dogs was appreciated and a lovely touch. Local information was provided which meant we enjoyed a wonderful meal in the village pub!
