Description

Located midway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, this charming cottage offers a tranquil base for exploring the Suffolk Coast and Heath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Westleton is an unspoilt village with a handful of shops and pubs, and an abundance of walking routes on your doorstep. Nature lovers are spoilt for choice with a reserve in the village, plus Dunwich Heath (3.5 miles) and RSPB Minsmere (2.5 miles) within easy reach. The coast offers several traditional seaside resorts, from the lighthouse and pier at Southwold (9 miles) to the artistic town of Aldeburgh (9 miles). The region is rich in heritage too, with castles at Framlingham (12.5 miles) and Orford (16 miles), and Angle-Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo (20 miles).

Arranged over two storeys, this three-bedroom cottage offers a beautiful blend of original features and contemporary design. The living room is cosy and comfortable with relaxing sofas and a brick fireplace with a wood burner, set beneath a beamed ceiling. The modern fitted kitchen has stable doors, a lovely brick floor, and a charming dining table with a bench along the wall. The ground floor also accommodates a utility room and a single bedroom. Cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor where there are two elegant bedrooms beneath a beamed ceiling: one double and one small double (suitable for a single person), along with a family bathroom and a separate WC.

Stretching for a third of an acre, the mature lawned garden offers a beautiful spot for a meal or drink alfresco, with garden furniture and a BBQ.

Westleton is a pretty village in an area of outstanding natural beauty, situated midway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, with the coast at Dunwich only two and a half miles away.  Centred around a large green, Westleton is one of the most popular places to stay on the Heritage Coast.  It is an ideal base for the beach or for Minsmere, as well as the coastal heaths and forests.  There are two good pubs, a restaurant, bookshop and well-stocked village store/post office - all in the village centre.  Much of the area around the village is accessible open heath or mixed woodland with excellent walking from the door.

Reviews

Cosy and comfortable cottage in a great location. Nice to be able to walk from the cottage both to nature reserves and the pub.
