Description

If the stunning sea views from the first floor living room weren’t exceptional enough, the secret garden perched on the cliff in front of the property provides a little oasis that will make you fall in love with this property. Located on Mount Pleasant Road in Porthleven, the property looks out over the iconic clock tower on the harbours edge with furnishings inspired by mid-century St Ives artists and original artworks by local artists throughout. Storm chasers from all over the county flock to this location during bad weather to witness the waves crashing over the clock tower and into the harbour; it really is worth enduring the bad weather to see! On the ground floor there is a fully equipped kitchen and dining room, as well as a twin bedroom and shower room. On the first floor is the spacious living area with open fire and stunning sea views, along with the master bedroom and family bathroom. Unfortunately this property is unable to accommodate pets or children under 10 years.

Porthleven is a bustling fishing harbour in West Cornwall and offers a great selection of restaurants, shops and pubs that are open all year round. From Easter to October there is a local craft market during the weekends, with the famous food and music festival in the spring time that sees thousands of visitors flock to the harbour for a weekend full of food, drink and great entertainment. There are plenty of sandy beaches dotted along this stretch of coastline, with Praa Sands and Perranuthnoe popular for surfers. The historic site of St Michael’s Mount is just a 15 minute drive away; a great place to spend the afternoon with the whole family.

Reviews

We have stayed in many properties in Porthleven over the years. This was the second time that we’ve stayed in St Michael’s. We chose it this year primarily because there is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom which was ideal for our elderly guests and the garden with it’s wonderful view. Two things that were disappointing is that the window in the ceiling above the kitchen window still leaks, as it did in 2019 and that the bedroom decorations really do need to be updated. A first for me was to find a note asking us to strip all the beds and bag the bedding up before we left. I’m sorry but we didn’t do that. a) we didn’t have time as we were requested to vacate the property by 10am, and b) the cost of hiring this cottage included this service in the first place. That all said, on balance, we would probably return again if this sleeping style of accommodation was required.

Mrs W,

Location is great and the cleanliness was good as well. The decor was a bit tired in places but overall we were very happy there.

Mr Paul B,

A super holiday in your super cottage.

We saw dolphins from the lounge window. A beautiful break from the hustle and bustle of London. We return well rested.
