Description

Serenity is a beautiful barn conversion set in a tranquil county setting with the use of a heated swimming pool. It is one of two cottages surrounded by the beautiful rolling countryside area known as Ruby Country in the heart of Devon. The thoughtfully converted property is close to the handsome village of Sheepwash where you can find the very popular Half Moon Inn. It is a brisk mile walk along narrow country lanes, or a short drive. Just a little further by car are the market towns of Holsworthy and Hatherleigh. The ground floor is all open plan with light coloured decor making the most of the natural light. An open stairway leads up to the stylish double bedroom with King size bed, which enjoys far-reaching country views. An extra dressing area and well-planned shower room on this floor complete the accommodation. The cottage has a patio area to itself and a share of another decked area, lawned area, indoor swimming pool. The pool is available from 9am to 7pm (May to September).

Westward Ho! in Devon or Bude in Cornwall are within a 30 minute drive. Westward Ho! is the only place in Britain with an explanation mark in its name, but there's more to it than quirky grammar. Golden Bay beach is a long strip of sand backed by a pebble ridge. On the northern end, you can access the Northern Burrows, a scientifically important area which juts out into the mouth of the estuary. A site of special scientific interest, it boasts sand dunes, salt marsh, grassland, rocky shore and is teeming with wildlife, including rare plants, insects, birds and stunningly vivid lichen. A shorter drive south takes you to Dartmoor National Park. Or you could catch a ferry to Lundy Island from Bideford, where you could also hire bikes and head along the Tarka Trail, which includes a 31-mile car-free section

Reviews

I've lost count of the number of times I've stayed at this property & the one next door. It's perfectly situated for both cycling and walking - with relatively easy access to the Cornish coast, north Dartmoor (Okehampton is just 25 minutes by car and now you can catch the train to Exeter for the day - just over £8 day return) and north Devon, especially the Tarka Trail cycle path. The cottage is small but well equipped and the owners are friendly and helpful.

Mrs O,

Great cottage right in the middle of know where. Everything just like your own home with a beautiful cream tea and bottle of wine to great you Swimming pool was just what was needed after a day’s exploring Would definitely recommend and stay again
