Description

Located right above the beach and just around the corner from Porthleven's iconic clock tower, this superbly positioned cottage is perfectly placed to make the most of those stunning sea views over Mount's Bay. Samphire Cottage has the rare claim that it has been owned by the same family for seven generations, and this can be felt when you walk into this loved family home.

A sun room leads into an open plan living/dining room from which those glorious sea views can be enjoyed. The living room is at one end with comfy sofas, large inglenook and wood-burning stove. At the other end is the dining area with dining table.

This room opens up into a well equipped kitchen breakfast room with five-burner induction hob, larder and belfast sink. There is a large breakfast bar and cosy seating area with more comfy sofas, and due to the open plan nature of the whole of the downstairs sea views can also be enjoyed from here. To the back of the house is a porch which leads out to the rear entrance.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms; a king and double to the front of the cottage which both have sea views, and two single rooms to the rear of the cottage. There is a family bathroom with bath and separate shower.

Outside to the front of the cottage is a patio terrace with table and chairs, where you have uninterrupted views out to sea overlooking Mount's Bay.

Porthleven is a vibrant fishing village with a fantastic community and boasts an array of superb restaurants and galleries, as well as a choice of good pubs and supermarket. Just 2 miles from the town of Helston and 12 miles from Penzance.

Reviews

Great location and views (great for winter storm watching). House lovely with comfy beds and sofas. Parking found easily on residential streets nearby. Would stay again

Mr L,

This is a gorgeous property with stunning views. We loved our stay so much and we will be back.

Past Customer,

Lovely character cottage in a fabulous location. Loads of space and well equipped for families or friends. Nice to share a bit of its history.

Mrs A,

We have stayed at this house for a number of years in a row. It's sad that the maintenance of the house does not match the quality of the location. Over the years we have seen this house deteriorated, as the care has not been taken, dirty curtains , blinds and curtains that don't hang properly, spider webs not removed, cleaning of high use areas , windows, window sills, outside door ways. I will be writing to my feedback to the company directly, we will not be staying at this house again.

Ms Kerry C,

This was our 4th visit and we have already booked for 2024. The perfect place for us to spend our wedding anniversary and husband's birthday

Mrs Kayla C,

Beautiful, spacious cottage with beautiful views and and it included home comforts. One downside the TV had a black line down the screen, but it didn't obscure the picture. Beautiful views as well. Plenty of space for our party during Christmas.

Mrs Karen H,

All in all we were happy. Here our suggestions for improvement: TV shows a dark vertical stripe in the right half of the screen. Beds could be more comfortable and slightly bigger. Knifes in the kitchen are blunt. Heating was a bit weak especially during stormy days, hereby windows and doors are leaking. We missed a description how the heating in the bathroom works.

Mr Lorenz M,

Samphire Cottage is a lovely place to stay, with stunning views and great accessibility to all the locality.
