Description

This delightful cottage is tucked away in a quiet street yet is just a few minutes walk from the centre of Filey. The beach and wonderful promenade are also within walking distance.

Strathmore Cottage is surrounded by its garden, giving you plenty of outside space to relax in, including a patio courtyard and lawned areas, as well as off-street parking. The conservatory is light and spacious and provides a separate sitting room to the oak panelled lounge with its cosy stove. The kitchen diner has all the facilities you would expect in this well equipped property. Upstairs, the two bedrooms are a good size and the bathroom is modern with contemporary fittings.

Filey is a lovely seaside town with a fabulous beach of golden sand and a promenade that is popular with visitors all year round. The beautiful unspoiled Filey Bay extends for five miles and has something to offer everyone, from families to dog walkers, from nature lovers to adventurous thrill seekers. Filey is a very dog friendly town with many good walks, including large areas of Filey Bay, and several shops, cafes and pubs where dogs are welcome. Crescent Gardens are beautifully maintained with fantastic views of the bay and concerts are regularly held in the bandstand. For family fun, Glen Gardens provide crazy golf, trampolines and a boating lake. Other nearby attractions include Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, Filey Museum and Filey Brigg and Country Park. For the more adventurous there is also the opportunity to take part in a variety of water sports and activities including coasteering, kayaking and dinghy sailing. (Bay Watersports) Keen birdwatchers will find plenty to see at nearby Bempton Cliffs RSPB centre including the only mainland gannetry in England and the largest kittiwake colony in mainland Britain. As Filey is the end point for both the Cleveland Way National Trail and the Yorkshire Wolds Way there are lots of fantastic walks from the town along the coast and into the rolling countryside and hidden valleys of the Wolds.

Reviews

Lovely kitchen and dining room. Garden very dog friendly and secure.

Mrs T,

The cottage was very comfortable and in a great location. Garden private and secure, our dog, Ted enjoyed it. Cottage close to beach, country park, Tesco, town centre and railway station. Beds comfy and heating was good. Amazon stick was a bonus. We ate out at the Bull in Gristhorpe and The Royal Oak. Used the cafes at the country park, thirty and the coffee shed. Days out in Whitby, Bridlington and Robin Hoods Bay. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Mr P,

Lovely cosy cottage, placed very conveniently for walking into town or down to the seafront. Beds are comfortable, lovely bathroom, great lounge area with lots of space and seating. Conservatory great at this time of year for drying the dog and ourselves before coming into the kitchen and lovely to sit in when the sun is shining even in winter. We had a great week ( our third visit) and so did the dog!

Mrs L,

Great location short walk to town and to the beach. Property has driveway parking which was a bonus for Filey! Along with an enclosed garden for the dog. Weather wasn’t great when we stayed so the large conservatory was brilliant for when we returned very wet humans and dog! Filey was a lovely town lots of little shops, also close to visit Whitby and surrounding places. Would definitely stay at the property again.

Mrs C,

The cottage is extremely cosy and homely and fully equipped with everything you need. It is very close to all the amenities, with the train station right on your doorstep, which is an added bonus. The beach and cliff walks are breathtaking. Looking forward to returning again.

mr T,

Beautiful cosy cottage in a prime location, everything you need is right on your doorstep, from shops to beach and the train station. Great off street parking which is a must at Filey. Lots of coastal walks to go on and eateries to visit.

Mr T,

The cottage is well-located and an easy walk into town. The town itself is wonderful and we had great fun exploring. The house is lovely with plenty of space and character. Would definitely stay here again.

Miss C,

The cottage was in a great location for us and nice and spacious, could do with a little modernisation in area’s but overall a great place, we will be booking again

Mr L,

A wonderful house. We have family in the area and the property was very big with plenty of room for everyone to sit. Facilities are first class and there is a toilet downstairs as well as in the upstairs bathroom. The upstairs bathroom is really big. There is a lovely garden with a kettle bbq. Everywhere is within a few minutes walking distance. Being able to park the car off road was a big bonus. We had a great time. Thank you.

Mr P,

Lovely cottage. Getting a large car in & out of the the drive was very tricky - also the conservatory radiator needs a good scrub, but that aside the cottage was fantastic, location excellent and all amenities nearby. We will definitely return.

Ms Angela P,

The Cottage was very good I scored down on location as it could be difficult for some to access the drive due to street parking

Mr Vic T,

Everything fine location etc. Comfort , beds and pillows way too hard . The road was closed for a day for roadworks and we couldn't get out the drive, there was no information in the property regarding this

Miss Sharon G,

This is lovely house with a lovely garden. Warm, welcoming, well equipped and well kept The location of the property is bit down market but that does give you easy access to the town of Filey.

Mr Michael S,

Perfect location for town centre and away from all the crowds and access to railway station only taking 15 mins to Scarborough. The Property has lots of character and period features especially the wood paneled living room. Good kitted out kitchen with everything you need. Extremely large conservatory good for kids and dogs.TV with firestick. I would recommend replacing all the woodchip wallpaper and changing the mattress for memory foam. Internet access perfect for remote working. Large enclosed gardens giving freedom for the dogs. Drive has parking for two large cars. Had a really enjoyable Easter break with lots of walks on the coastal paths and beach.

Mr Glenn H,

We had a great week in Filey, even if the weather wasn't perfect. Would have preferred a nice view from the cottage, not an estate. The access to the driveway was quite tight, with neighbouring properties being double parked all around. We had to go out an buy our own Tin Opener and Washing up liquid as there was none in the cottage. Also had Woodlice in the Conservatory every day, coming out of the poorly finished joints between patio doors and floor and also windows and window sills.

Mr Andrew R,

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in excellent accomodation. Well equipped and close to all the amenities. Filey a magical place walking for miles along the beaches on the cliff tops.

Past Customer,

Enjoyed our stay in Filey in this spacious, comfortable and well appointed cottage.

Past Customer,

It is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in in terms of everything:comfort, cleanliness, equipment, location. We felt at home there n have booked again for later in the year. The accuracy of the info on the website is second to none. Thank you!

Mr Liz H,

The place was very comfortable and in an excellent location - convenient for beach and also shops and cafes.

Mrs Wendy T,

Well placed comfy, cosy cottage. Private enclosed garden good for canine friends.

Mr Mark B,

A lovely cosy cottage, convenient for all amenities and close to the sea as well!

Mrs Anne L,

A lovely cottage which was like a tardis, much bigger inside than it looked! Off street parking and a secure garden for our dog. It was a short walk to the town/beach and the cottage was well equipped, we loved the different games to play in the evening. We would love to return!
